Nick and Brian sat there
on the bus talking. Brian shook his head and looked at Brian.
“I can’t believe she didn’t trust you,” Brian said.
“I can’t believe it, either, she said she’s pregnant with my child, but she could be pregnant with
his,” Nick said.
“AJ is not ready for kids and he makes sure that it wouldn’t happen,” Brian said.
“Whether she’s pregnant with my child or not, I can’t be with her,” Nick said.
“Nick, at least be there for you child, joint custody,” Brian said.
“It’s the only way,” Nick said. Kevin ran onto the bus.
“Kev,” Brian said.
“Hayley was just taken to the hospital, she got hit by a car,” Kevin said. They went to the hospital. Nick
went up to the desk.
“Excuse me, my wife was brought in, Hayley Carter,” Nick said.
“The doctors are working on her right now, please take a seat and a doctor will be right out,” a nurse
said.
They sat down and waited. A doctor came out. They stood up and went over to
him.
“I’m Dr. Davis, and you are all related to Hayley Carter?” he asked.
“I’m her husband,” Nick said.
“I’m her brother,” Brian said.
“I’m her cousin,” Kevin said.
“Doctor, how is my wife?” Nick asked.
“I don’t know how to say this, but we did everything we could, your wife is on life support, and she is
fading fast, it appears that she feels like there was nothing to live for, the machines are keeping her alive,” Dr.
Davis said.
“Where is she, I have to see her,” Nick said.
“Room 221,” Dr. Davis said. Nick ran down the hall with Brian and Kevin behind him. Nick ran in and grabbed
her hand and kissed it.
“Hayley, you can’t die, you have so much to live for, please come back to me, I love you, I forgive you,
just don’t leave me or your family, Brian and Kevin need you, your parents need you, everyone needs you, mostly me,
I was so hurt and I felt betrayed but I felt like my life was over when Kevin told me that you were hit by a car when you
are three months pregnant with our child, please come back so we can have the family we have always wanted, baby, you have
to live, you have to fight to live, don’t leave us, don’t leave the ones who love you,” Nick said. Brian
held her other hand.
“Sis, you are a Littrell, we never give up, fight for your life, I need you, sis, I need my sister, who else
can I turn to, you were always there for me, and I’m always there for you, I was just upset at what you did, but no
matter what, you are my blood, you are my sister, nothing can change that,” Brian said. Kevin stood beside Brian.
“Cuz, we need you, I have always been there for you, I never turned my back to you, you have a lot of people
who need you,” Kevin said.
Three days later, Brian, Nick, and Kevin stayed at her bedside. Dr. Davis came in and looked at the monitors. He looked at Brian.
“You are her brother, her blood, I need your okay to turn off the life support and see if she can make it on
her own,” Dr. Davis said. Brian looked at Nick who looked at Hayley and looked at Brian and nodded. Nick sat down and
held her hand as Dr. Davis switched off the life support. They watched Hayley. Dr. Davis watched the monitors. She started
breathing on her own and she moaned and opened her eyes and looked around. She looked at Nick.
“Nick,” Hayley said weakly. Nick smiled and kissed her hand.
“Don’t do that again, you scared me, thought I was going to lose you there,” Nick said.
“Sis, you scared us all,” Brian said.
“Cuz, glad to see that you are okay,” Kevin said.
“I thought you wanted nothing to do with me,” Hayley said. Nick smiled.
“It took a near death experience to get me to realize what I was losing, the love of my life,” Nick said.
“Hayley, I’m Dr. Davis,” Dr. Davis said.
“Oh god, my baby, is it okay?” Hayley asked.
“Surprising the baby is doing just fine, any longer on life support would be another story, it’s a good
thing you woke up when you did,” Dr. Davis said.
“Thank god,” Hayley said. Dr. Davis looked over his charts.
“Your doctor back in Phoenix faxed me your sheet about your pregnancy, you are four months pregnant instead of
three,” Dr. Davis said.
“Four months?” Brian asked.
“Yes,” Dr. Davis said. Hayley looked at Nick.
“Our baby,” Nick said kissing her hand. Dr. Davis left the room.
“So you believe me now,” Hayley said. Nick looked at her.
“Hayley, I did believe it was mine, I was just angry and upset, I mean, you slept with AJ, I felt betrayed, and
by the way, I have been compeletely faithful, AJ told me you thought I had an affair, on April 9th, the woman you
saw me with was BJ, you can call her up and ask her,” Nick said.
“I know, he told me, that’s why I got upset and ran into the road, I couldn’t believe that I thought
that you were having an affair, I should have known better,” Hayley said.
“I meant what I said, Hayley, I forgive you, I love you too damn much to let go now,” Nick said.
“Fresh start, Nick, no more thinking of the past, just the present and the future,” Hayley said. Nick smiled
and kissed her softly.
“Fresh start,” Nick said.
Five months later, Hayley gave birth to a baby girl and they named her Ashley
Marie Carter.
The END!
