What Makes You Different
When I Said I Do
Where Would You Be
With You

Nick and I were on his tour bus.  We were lying on the bed, kissing.  His hand went down and ran over my thigh.  His tongue entered my mouth and I sucked on it.  He moaned.

“God, Bri, I want you so bad,” Nick murmured kissing my neck. I knew I wanted him.  But I wanted it to be special.

“Nick, not now,” I said. He pulled back and looked at me.

       “Bri,” Nick said.

“Nick, I want it to be special, I really want you, but I want it to be special, since it’s my first time,” I said.

“I’m sorry, baby,” Nick said burying his face in my neck.

       “It’s okay, I love you,” I said.

“I love you, too, can we still make out,” Nick said.

“If we don’t, I’ll hurt ya,” I said.  He laughed and we started making out.

“Nick! We’re here!” Bud called.  Nick groaned.  We got up and straightened up.  We went up front.  I saw the house.

       “Nick,” I said.

“Come on,” Nick said.  I was meeting his family for the first time. We got off the bus.

       “I love you,” I said.

“I love you, too,” Nick said.  We walked up to the house.  The door opened and a blond woman stood there.  She hugged Nick.  Nick hugged her back.

“Oh my big boy, I missed you so much,” she said.

“I missed you, too, Mom,” Nick said. Jane looked at me.

“You must be Bri,” Jane said.

“Yes, I am,” I said.  She shook my hand.

“Nice to meet you,” Jane said.  We went in and I met the rest of the family.  I told them all about me.  Jane and BJ went to fix dinner.  I went into the kitchen.

“Is there anything I can help with?” I asked.

“Oh, no thanks, Bri, we can handle it,” Jane said.  I went back into the living room and saw Nick, Bob, Aaron, Angel, and Leslie in a conversation. I felt out of place and went out front and went to the bus.  Bud was sitting there.

“Bud, are you bored?” I asked.

“Nope, this paper is keeping me occupied,” Bud said.

“Okay,” I said.  I went back and laid down on the bed.  I heard Nick’s voice.  I sat up and hugged my knees.  Nick came in.  He sat down.

       “What’s wrong, baby,” Nick said.

       “I don’t fit in,” I said.

       “Baby,” Nick said.

“I don’t think your mother likes me,” I said.

“What, she hardly knows you,” Nick said.

“I was going to help, but she said in this voice, oh no thanks, Bri, we can handle it,” I said.

“Bri, let my mother and BJ cook,” Nick said.

“What was I suppose to do, sit around and do nothing,” I said.  He pulled me close.

“Bri, I love you, I’m not going to let anyone tear us apart, I never want to lose you, never,” Nick said.

       “You sure?” I asked.

“Yes,” Nick said.  We kissed and laid down on the bed.  We began making out.  We heard a gasp.  We broke apart and saw Jane standing at the doorway.

“Just wanted to tell you that dinner’s ready, please straighten up before coming to dinner,” Jane said. She went back into the house.  Nick rested his head on my shoulder.

“Now she really doesn’t like me,” I said.

“I don’t care, I don’t want to lose you,” Nick said.

“I love you,” I said.  We got up and straightened up and went back inside and sat down at the table and ate.  After everyone was done, Jane and BJ cleaned up.  Nick took my hand and we went into the living room and sat down.  Jane and Bob came in and sat down.

“We have to talk to you two,” Jane said.

“What’s going on, Mom,” Nick said holding my hand tight.

“We don’t think you two should see each other, Nick, she’s not right for you” Jane said.

“How dare you tell me what to do, I’m 21, Mom, in case you forgot!” Nick said.

“Nick, you are my son, my oldest, I have to worry about you,” Jane said.

“Why do you hate me so much,” I said.

“Bri, we don’t hate you, we just don’t think you are right for him,” Jane said.

“You know nothing about me, nothing!” I said. I walked out. Nick looked at his parents.

“You’ll be lucky if I step in this house again!” Nick said. He walked out and went to the bus.  He saw Bri sitting on the couch, looking at her hands.

“Bud, get us out of here, let’s go,” Nick said.  Bud drove to San Francisco where the next concert was.  Nick sat down.

       “It’ll be okay,” Nick said.

“I love you so much,” I said hugging him.

“I love you, too,” Nick said.  He picked me up and carried me back to the bed and closed the door and locked it and we laid down and began making out.  I pulled his shirt off.

       “Bri,” Nick said.

“Make love to me, Nick, I need you so badly,” I said.

       “Are you sure?” Nick asked.

“Yes, please, Nick,” I said.  He kissed me deeply and he pulled off my shirt and pushed my pants off.  I pushed his pants off.  After all the clothing was removed, we made love. Afterwards, we laid there holding each other.

       “You okay,” Nick asked.

“Yes, thank you for being gentle,” I said.

“I didn’t want to hurt you,” Nick said.

“I love you so much, Nick, it was so amazing,” I said.

“I know, you are amazing,” Nick said.

“You are sexy,” I said.   He smiled.

       “Oh really,” Nick said.

“Oh yes, very sexy,” I said kissing his chest.  He rolled on top of me and we made love again.

Three weeks later, we were in Boston.  We noticed that AJ was acting different.  I went to AJ’s room and knocked on the door. He opened the door and he looked terrible.

       “Hey girl,” AJ said.

“Hey, can I come in, Bone?” I asked.  He stepped aside and I went in.  He closed the door.

       “What’s up?” AJ asked.

“Bone, what’s going on, you have been acting different, you are not the same guy as before, what is going on,” I said.

“Ever since my grandmother died, you mean,” AJ said.

“AJ, yes, since then, I know what’s it’s like losing someone very close, you should know that,” I said.

“Yeah, I know, you lost your parents, how did you get past it,” AJ said.

“You guys helped me, remember, by being there for me and supporting me and being my family, you guys are my family now, AJ, you are like a brother to me, you can get through this if you let us help, we are all family here,” I said.

“I just can’t deal with it, I mean, I try to get past it but I can’t,” AJ said.

“AJ, we can be there if you need us, all you have to do is tell us, we can be here for you, you are important to us, AJ,” I said.  He looked at me.

“Important, yeah, right, Howie’s busy with his foundation, Brian and Kevin are busy with Leighanne and Kristen, and Nick is busy with you, no one cares!” AJ said.

“AJ, we do care about you, all you have to do is say something,” I said.

“I did, okay, they thought I was joking!” AJ said.

       “AJ,” I said.

“Just go,” AJ said.  I got up and walked out and went to Kevin’s room and knocked on the door.  Kevin opened the door in his boxers.

“Hey Bri, what’s up,” Kevin said.

“We need to help AJ, he’s not doing too good,” I said.

“You mean he wasn’t joking,” Kevin said.

“No, he’s not,” I said.  Kevin grabbed his clothes.  He got the guys and they went to AJ’s room.  I went back to mine and Nick’s room and sat down.  I heard yelling.  I walked out. Leighanne came out of Brian’s room and Kristen came out of Kevin’s room.  We went to AJ’s room just as it opened.  AJ came flying out.

       “AJ!” Kevin yelled.

“Leave me alone!” AJ said as he headed for the elevator.

       “AJ, stop!” Nick said.

“LEAVE ME ALONE!” AJ yelled.  I ran after AJ.

“AJ, please, stay,” I said calmly.  AJ looked at me.

“I’m sorry, I can’t,” AJ said.  He hugged me and got on the elevator.  I got on the elevator.  I looked at AJ.

“AJ, please, just let us help you, let us be there for you, don’t shut us out, don’t shut me out, remember what I was going through with my parents, you were the only one who could get through to me to let you guys help me get through it, please, let me and the guys help you, the Backstreet Boys aren’t whole without you, don’t turn your back on them,” I said.  AJ looked at me.

“You always know what to say, I’m glad Nick has you,” AJ said hugging me.

“So, will you let us help you,” I said.

“Yeah,” AJ said.  He hit the button to go back up to the floor.  The doors opened and we got off.  The guys and girls were still in the hallway.  Kevin and Howie came over.

“I’m sorry, for everything, I really need help getting through this,” AJ said.  Kevin hugged AJ.

“We’ll be there for you, Bone,” Kevin said.  Howie, Brian, and Nick joined the hug.  We all went back to our rooms.  Nick and I walked into mine and closed the door.  I locked it and Nick pulled me close.

“You are so amazing,” Nick said.

“I know, I love you so much, Nick,” I said.

“I love you, too,” Nick said.  We went to the bedroom and collapsed on the bed and we made love. Afterwards we laid there holding each other.  I traced patterns on his chest.

       “I love you,” Nick said.

“I love you, too,” I said.  We fell asleep holding each other.

Three months later, the tour was over and we arrived back in Orlando.   Nick took me home.  He helped me carry my bags inside.  I put my bags down.  He put the rest down and hugged me.

“Will you be okay?” Nick asked.

“I’ll be fine, Nick,” I said.  He kissed me deeply and left.  I went upstairs and went to bed.  I woke up to the phone ringing.  I sat up and picked it up.

       “Hello,” I said.

       “Ms. Hardin,” a woman said.

       “Yes,” I said.

“This is Orlando Hospital calling, Nick Carter was in a car accident, we found your phone number in his wallet,” the woman said.

“I’ll be right there,” I said.  I got up and changed and went to the hospital.  I called the guys.   I went to the nurses station.

“Can I help you?” a nurse asked.

“Yeah, someone called me and told me that Nick Carter was in a car accident, she said that my number was in his wallet,” I said.

       “Ms. Hardin,” she said.

       “Yes, Britney Hardin,” I said.

“What relation are you to him?” she asked.

“I’m his girlfriend, where is he?” I asked.

“Room 257,” she said.  I went to the room and walked in and saw him lying there.

“Ms. Hardin, I’m Dr. Kelly,” a lady said coming in.

       “What happened,” I said.

“Apparently a drunk driver struck Nick’s car on the driver’s side as he was crossing an intersection, Nick suffered injuries, he has two broken ribs, a concussion, and a bruised back, he’s in a coma,” Dr. Kelly said.

“Can I stay here with him?” I asked.

“I’ll have an orderly bring in a cot for you,” Dr. Kelly said.

“Thank you,” I said.  She left the room.  I pulled up a chair by his bedside and sat down and took his hand in mine and kissed it.

“I’m here, baby, wake up for me, I can’t lose you,” I said.

Two days later, the guys and I never left his side. Jane and Bob came into the room.  I had my head resting on the bed watching Nick.  I felt a hand on my back.  I looked up slowly and saw Jane and Bob.  I wiped the tears away.

“I’m sure Dr. Kelly filled you in,” I said.

       “Actually no,” Jane said.

“A drunk driver hit him as he was crossing the intersection, on the driver’s side, he has two broken ribs, concussion, and a bruised back, he’s in a coma,” I said.

“Have you left his side?” Jane asked.

“I’m not leaving him, never, I can’t, Brian and the guys are at the cafeteria, I’m not leaving him for anything,” I said.

“You really do love him,” Jane said.

“Yes, I do, Nick helped me before, when I was going through a lot of pain, now I can’t leave him,” I said.

“What do you mean?” Jane asked.

“My parents were killed in a car accident, I went into a depression where I didn’t care about anything or anyone, Nick helped me get on with my life, he saved me from the pain, he saved my life when I just wanted to end it, he and the guys have been there for me ever since,” I said crying.

“Oh Bri, I’m sorry, I didn’t know,” Jane said.

       “I know, I should’ve told you,” I said.

“I know it wasn’t probably an easy thing to talk about, let’s start over, hi, I’m Jane, Nick’s mother,” Jane said.

       “Hi, I’m Bri, Nick’s girlfriend,” I said.

“Nick has told us so much about you,” Jane said.

“He never stops talking about you,” Bob said.

“He talks about you guys, too, how great parents you are to him,” I said.

“We would like to get to know you better,” Jane said.

“Let’s worry about that later, let’s talk later, right now, Nick is important, and he’s awake,” I said as I saw Nick looking at us. Bob went to get Dr. Kelly.

“Oh Nick, thank god,” I said hugging him gently.

       “Hey baby,” Nick said softly.

“Nick, we were so worried about you,” Jane said.

       “Really, who?” Nick asked.

“Us, Nick, me, your father, Bri most of all, you have a great girl here,” Jane said.

“Tell me something I didn’t know,” Nick said smiling.

“Nick, what I said when you guys were there, forget about it,” Jane said.

“Okay, so I can be with her without any trouble,” Nick said.

“Of course, Nick, just when you come visit, no sex in the house,” Jane said.  Nick turned red and I started blushing.

       “What,” Jane said.

“Nothing,” Nick said.  I giggled.  Jane laughed.  Bob came in with Dr. Kelly.

“Hi Nick, I’m Dr. Kelly, how are you doing?” Dr. Kelly asked.

“Like a truck ran over me,” Nick said.

“He still has that sense of humor of his,” Jane said.

Three days later, Nick came home.  His father helped him get settled into bed where Nick had to stay until his back was better.  Bob and Jane came downstairs.

“Are you sure you can take care of him,” Bob said.

“I’ll be fine, he can’t be that hard to take care of,” I said.

“He can be a handful,” Bob said.

“Don’t worry, I’ll be fine,” I said.  They hugged me and left.  I went upstairs and went to mine and Nick’s room. I sat on the bed and smiled at him.  He looked at me.

       “What,” Nick said.

“Did I tell you that you are very sexy?” I said.

       “Lots of times,” Nick said.

“Well, you still are very sexy,” I said stroking his leg.

       “Oh really,” Nick said.

“Oh yes, you want me to show you,” I said climbing up and straddling his legs.  He looked at me.

“Maybe some other time,” Nick said.

       “What’s wrong,” I said.

“I’m just tired, my back hurts,” Nick said.

“Want me to lay against it and add heat to it,” I said.

“What do you mean,” Nick said.

“Body to body heat, I’ll lay against your back with my body, take off your shirt and I’ll take off mine and lay against it,” I said. I helped him take his shirt off and lay down.  I took off my shirt and bra and laid down and pressed myself against his back.  He moaned.

       “That feels good,” Nick said.

“Good,” I said.  I wrapped my arms around him.

“I love you, you know that,” Nick said.

“I know, and I love you,” I said.  We fell asleep like that.  I woke up and saw Nick looking back at me.

“Hey, beautiful,” Nick said.  I smiled and leaned up and kissed his lips softly.  I pulled back and he whimpered.

“What, your back again, what,” I said.

“You teased me,” Nick said.  I leaned up and kissed him deeply. Our tongues met and fought in each other’s mouth.  He moaned and laid on top of me and I pushed his boxers off. I pulled my shorts and panties off and we made love.  Nick laid on top of me and we kissed.

“I love you so much, don’t ever leave me,” Nick said.

“I wouldn’t leave you if my life depended on it,” I said.

“Oh god, I want you all the time,” Nick said kissing me deeply.  His tongue went into my mouth and I sucked on it.  He moaned.  We made love again.  I helped him lay on his back and I curled up next to him and rested my head on his chest.  He held me close.  We laid there enjoying the feel of each other.  We went to sleep.

Three weeks later, Nick was feeling better and healed up.  I wasn’t feeling good. I went to the doctor and Dr. Kelly examined me and left the room.  She came back.

“Bri, you are pregnant, three weeks along,” Dr. Kelly said.

“Thanks,” I said.  I went home and sat down next to Nick.

       “What’s up, honey,” Nick said.

“Oh something, Daddy,” I said.  He looked at me.

       “What,” Nick said.

“I’m pregnant,” I said.  His face lit up and he hugged me and held me close.

“Oh baby, I love you so much,” Nick said.

“I love you, too,” I said.  He put a hand on my stomach.

       “Our baby,” Nick said.

“Yeah,” I said.  He called his parents.  He hung up.

“They are coming out,” Nick said.

The next day, Nick’s parents arrived and we told them the news.  They got excited and hugged us.  We went out to celebrate with the guys who were happy.  We all sat around the table.

“Bri, Nick, we can’t wait to be grandparents,” Bob said.

“I have something to ask Brian, Howie, AJ, and Kevin, I know I’m just three weeks along and everything, but can you guys be godfathers to the baby,” I said looking at them.  They all talked quietly.

       “Yes,” they said.

       “Good,” I said.

“Now, Bri, have you thought of names yet?” Jane asked.

“Jane, I’m three weeks pregnant, haven’t got that far yet, but I’ll tell you now that your name or Bob’s name will be the middle name, if it’s a boy or a girl,” I said.

“Oh Bri, thank you,” Jane said.  I smiled.  I looked up and saw a guy staring at me.  I sat there.  I looked away and looked back and saw him still staring at me.  I stared him down.  He didn’t bother looking away.  He just stared back at me.  Nick put his hand on my leg under the table.

       “Baby, what’s wrong,” Nick asked.

“Some guy is staring at me, he won’t stop,” I said.  Nick looked and saw the guy looking at me.  I looked at Nick.  Nick whispered to Bob.  Bob whispered to Brian. Brian whispered to Kevin.  Kevin whispered to AJ.  AJ whispered to Howie.  Howie whispered to Jane. We paid and got up and casually walked out the door.  I felt the hair on the back of my neck. I looked at Nick.

       “AJ, what’s up,” Nick said.

       “He’s following us,” AJ said.

“Know what to do,” Nick said.  We went around the corner.  Jane and I went on.  The guys hung back.  Howie called the police.  They hid and watched the guy go by.  They quietly followed him. The guy wouldn’t stop following me.  I looked at Jane.   She stopped.  I stopped.  She pretended to look through her purse.   I looked up and saw the guy standing there.   Jane looked at him.

“Why are you following us,” Jane said.

“I have a message for Ms. Hardin?” the guy said.

       “Who are you,” I said.

“I’m an undercover cop, Officer Mitchell,” he said showing his badge.  The police arrived and saw him.

“Mitchell, you were the one following her,” Officer Smith said.

       “Yes,” Mitchell said.

“What did you want?” I asked as Nick came over and put his arm around me.

“I have information about your parents,” Mitchell said.

“What about my parents, they’re dead, they were killed in a car accident,” I said.

“Ms. Hardin, you were adopted, we discovered some papers that were misplaced, you were adopted,” Mitchell said.

       “What,” I said.

“Actually, you were kidnapped from the nursery at the hospital when you were born,” Mitchell said.

“Oh my god,” Brian said.  I looked at Brian.

“Brian, what is it,” I said.

“I had a sister, my mother told me that she had another baby when I was five and I had a sister, she was abducted from the hospital,” Brian said.

       “Which hospital?” I said.

“Tates Creek Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky,” Brian said.

“That’s where Ms. Hardin was taken from,” Mitchell said.

“So you are saying that Bri could be my sister,” Brian said.

“No, I’m saying that she is your sister, Britney, you were born Britney Sue Littrell, your parents are Harold and Jackie Littrell,” Mitchell said.  I felt light-headed and blackness took over.  Nick caught Bri before she hit the ground.

“Bri, Bri,” Nick said.  Brian knelt down.  Nick stroked her face.  Brian felt for a pulse.

“She has a pulse,” Brian said.

“Bri, honey, baby, wake up,” Nick said.  Bri opened her eyes. She looked at him.

       “Nick,” I said.

“Hey, you scared me,” Nick said.  I looked around and saw everyone looking at me.

“Oh god, it wasn’t a dream,” I said.

“No, it’s not a dream, baby, everything is true,” Nick said helping me up.

       “Hi sis,” Brian said.

       “I can’t believe this,” I said.

Three weeks later, we were sitting around.  Jackie and Harold were coming down to visit. I was pacing the living room.

“Is she ever going to stop pacing, she’s making me dizzy,” AJ said.

“Bone, stop, she’s nervous, okay,” Kevin said.

“Bri, they will love you,” Brian said.

“I’m just a little nervous, I mean, they are my parents and I don’t even know them,” I said.

“Bri, you met them once, remember, on tour in Lexington, you met them backstage,” Nick said.

“I know, but this time I’m meeting them as my parents,” I said. I sat down and rubbed my stomach.

“And how will they handle that I’m pregnant,” I said.

“I’m sure they will love it, Bri, I’m already excited at the thought of being an uncle,” Brian said squeezing my hand. The doorbell rang.  I froze. I got up and went upstairs.  Nick went and opened the door.  Jackie and Harold stood there.

“Hi Jackie, hi Harold,” Nick said.

“Hi Nick, how are you,” Jackie said hugging him.

“Great,” Nick said.  They came in.

“Where is she?” Jackie asked.  Bri came downstairs. She saw them and stood there.

“Hi,” I said.  Jackie came over and hugged me.

“Oh my baby!” Jackie said hugging me tight. Harold hugged us. We all sat down and I told them about everything that has happened since I could remember.

“I have some news, I’m two months pregnant,” I said. They hugged me.

“I can’t wait to be a grandmother!” Jackie said.

       “I’m glad you’re happy,” I said.

“You were worried that we wouldn’t be,” Jackie said.

       “Yeah,” I said.

“Britney, you are our daughter, we love you,” Jackie said.

“Okay,” I said. We all talked.

Three days later, Jackie and Harold left.  I sat down.

“That wasn’t so bad,” Nick said.

       “Yeah,” I said.

       “What’s wrong,” Nick said.

“I always thought that my parents were dead, now I know that I have real parents, and two brothers, and a cousin,” I said.  Nick pulled me close.

“We all love you, you aren’t alone,” Nick said.

       “I know,” I said.

Five months later, Brian, Kevin, Nick, and I were headed to Kentucky for a family reunion.  I sat there on the plane looking out the window.  I felt a hand on my arm. I looked and saw Brian.

       “You okay?” Brian asked.

“Just nervous and scared,” I said.

       “Scared of what,” Brian said.

“What if no one likes me,” I said.

“Bri, they will like you,” Brian said.

       “I hope so,” I said.

Three hours later, we were in Kentucky and on our way to the park.  I held Nick’s hand.  He kissed it.

       “I’m here, baby,” Nick said.

“I know,” I said. Brian parked the car and I saw a lot of people.  We got out.  Jackie and Harold saw us and came over.

“Hi honey,” Jackie said hugging me.

       “Hi Mom,” I said.

They hugged Brian and Kevin and Nick.  I stood there looking at everyone.  I knew this was my family.  I saw a guy coming over to us.

       “Mom, Dad,” he said.

“Oh, Britney, this is your older brother, Harold JR,” Jackie said.  I looked at him.  He came over to me and hugged me.

“Nice to see you again, sis,” Harold JR said.

       “Thanks,” I said.

We went over to everyone and Jackie introduced me to everyone.  One by one, everyone came over and introduced themselves.  Afterwards, Jackie got up in front of everyone after everyone sat down.  I stood beside her.

“Everyone, I have some wonderful news, Britney is seven months pregnant as you can see her belly, I’m going to be a grandmother again! I’m so excited, the father of her baby is Brian’s best friend, Nick Carter, Nick, get up here,” Jackie said.  Nick smiled and stood up and came up to us and stood beside me.

“This guy is the father of my daughter’s baby, he is like another son to us, he’s a part of the family, no matter what,” Jackie said.

“Jackie, thank you, and I do have something to say, I really want to be a part of the family, but there is one way I know of that I can be, if she’ll have me,” Nick said looking at me.  He knelt down on one knee. I bit my lip.

“Britney Littrell, will you marry me?” Nick asked.  I felt tears in my eyes and smiled.

“Yes, I will,” I said.  He got up and hugged me. Everyone clapped.  Brian, Kevin, Harold JR, Harold SR, and Jackie hugged us. We all celebrated.
