Hayley sat in her living room looking at the picture of her and her brother, Brian. She then looked at a picture of her and her boyfriend, AJ. Brian just found out that she and AJ were together and refused to speak to her if she didn’t break up with AJ. He told her that he didn’t want her dating the guys, especially AJ because he knew AJ was a ladies man and would hurt her.  She tried to get Nick to listen but he sided with Brian. Kevin and Howie was the only two who would talk to her and they didn’t hate her for being with AJ. AJ was out of town on his Johnny No Name tour. He called and she told him everything. He said he would talk to Brian and he didn’t want her to break up with him. He told her he loved her and never wanted to lose her and he has become a new man because of her. She put the pictures down and called her mother.

      “Hello,” Jackie said.

      “Mama, it’s me,” Hayley said.

      “Hayley, baby duckling, are you okay, you don’t sound good,” Jackie said.

      “Have you talked to Brian?” Hayley asked.

      “No, we haven’t,” Jackie said.

      “Mama, I lost my brother, he hates me,” Hayley said crying.

      “Honey, what happened,” Jackie said.

      “You know I’m with AJ, right,” Hayley said.

      “Yeah,” Jackie said.

      “Brian knows and he hates me, he said that he never wants to talk to me ever again unless I break up with AJ, Nick took his side, Kevin and Howie are on my side, AJ is on his Johnny No Name tour, he’s going to talk to Brian when he gets back, Mama, I don’t know what to do,” Hayley said crying.

      “I’m coming down for a visit, okay, I will knock some sense into my son’s head, Mama is going to fix this, I didn’t raise my son to be like that, he shouldn’t be this way towards you, I’ll talk to you when I get there, okay, baby,” Jackie said.

      “Okay, bye Mama, love you,” Hayley said.

      “I love you, too, baby duckling, there is nothing you can do that would make me hate you, or mad at you, you are a grown woman who has a good head on her shoulders, you aren’t pregnant, are you?” Jackie asked.

      “Mama, you know I’m going by what you taught me, I’m still a virgin and waiting to get married, AJ respects that and he told me he is a changed man because of me, he loves me,” Hayley said.

      “I’ll see you when I get there,” Jackie said.

      “Bye, Mama,” Hayley said. She hung up and leaned against the back of the couch. Kevin came in.

      “Hey cuz,” Kevin said.

      “Mama’s coming down, she’s going after Brian,” Hayley said.

      “Good, hopefully she can talk some sense into him,” Kevin said.

      “No luck?” Hayley asked.

      “It’s like talking to a brick wall, but I’m here for you,” Kevin said hugging her.

      “I’m glad someone is, my best friend sides with my brother but I still have my cousin and my boyfriend’s best friend,” Hayley said looking up at Howie who came in behind Kevin.

      “Does AJ know?” Kevin asked.

      “Yes, and he’s going to deal with Brian when he comes back,” Hayley said.

      “One person sides with him, but there are four people ganging up on him,” Kevin said.

      “AJ said he’s a changed man because of me,” Hayley said.

      “He has committed to you, Hayley, he told me and he never lies to me,” Howie said.

      “I love him, he loves me, I can’t break up with him to make my brother talk to me again, I’m not going to do that, it will break my heart if I lose AJ,” Hayley said.  AJ came in. Hayley ran to him and they hugged.

      “I missed you so much,” AJ said.

      “I missed you, too,” Hayley said. They kissed.

Chapter 2

Two hours after he came home, AJ called Brian and asked him and Nick to come over to his house. Jackie came in and Hayley hugged her. Brian and Nick came in and Brian glared at AJ and Hayley as they sat together on the couch. Jackie looked at her son and stood up.

      “Brian Thomas Littrell!” Jackie said.

      “Mom,” Brian said.

      “How dare you turn against your sister, how dare you tell her to break up with AJ, I did not raise you like this,” Jackie said.

      “I don’t’ want her dating the guys!” Brian said.

      “There are only three guys she can date, AJ, Nick, and Howie, she can’t date you because you are her brother, she can’t date Kevin, her cousin, you can not keep her from dating them, you can’t tell her who to date and who not to date, you don’t run her life, it’s her life, she’s over 21, she’s an adult and can make her own choices, if you are afraid of her getting hurt, people get hurt all the time, but you are her brother, if AJ hurt her, who would she run to, if you turned your back on her, and he hurt her, who would she run to first,” Jackie said.

      “Mom,” Brian said.

      “They love each other, Brian, he’s not the same guy, he has changed, Howie even said AJ’s crazy about her, you know AJ never lies to Howie,” Jackie said. Brian looked at Hayley.

      “Hayley,” Brian said.

      “What,” Hayley said.

      “Think you could forgive me for being an idiot,” Brian said. Hayley came over to him.

      “Brian, you are my brother and I love you, you are sometimes very overprotective, but I’m not a kid anymore, I can take care of myself,” Hayley said.

      “I know you can,” Brian said. They hugged. Everyone smiled. Brian went over to AJ.

      “AJ, man, I’m sorry,” Brian said.

      “You were just trying to be the big brother,” AJ said. They hugged.

Three months later, it was Christmas time. AJ was at the mall trying to find the right present for Hayley. Brian and Nick were with him. They were in the jewelry store.

      “AJ, are you serious about an engagement ring,” Brian said.

      “I’m serious, man, she’s the one for me,” AJ said looking at rings. He found the one and bought it.

      “Are you two ready for marriage?” Nick asked.

      “We’ve known each other since the group got together, we’ve been dating for a year now, I’m sure it’s time, I love her, more than anything in the world,” AJ said. He bumped into someone and looked and saw his ex-girlfriend, Sarah.

      “Hi AJ,” Sarah said.

      “Hi,” AJ said.

      “How’s it going,” Sarah said.

      “I’m doing just fine, I’m happy, goodbye,” AJ said. He walked on with Brian and Nick behind him. Nick came up to AJ.

      “AJ,” Nick said.

      “Why did I have to see her, why,” AJ said.

      “It’s a public place,” Nick said.

      “I was finally happy and now,” AJ said.

      “AJ, what is going on,” Brian said.

      “All the feelings I had for Sarah came back, they were all gone until I just saw her back there,” AJ said.

      “AJ, do you still love Sarah?” Brian asked.

      “No, but the feelings have come back,” AJ said.

      “You need to talk to Hayley,” Nick said. They went back to the house. AJ got Hayley and took her out back.

      “AJ, what’s going on,” Hayley said.

      “I ran into Sarah at the mall, I think all the feelings I had for her came back,” AJ said.

      “What,” Hayley said.

      “I don’t know what to do, I know I love you more than anything and I want to be with you for the rest of my life,” AJ said.

      “You need to settle these feelings for Sarah,” Hayley said. AJ kissed her deeply.

      “I don’t know if I can,” AJ said.

      “You have to, AJ,” Hayley said.

      “I’ll just talk to her, that’s all, no kissing or anything, just talk,” AJ said.

      “You promise?” Hayley asked.

      “I promise with all my heart, I love you,” AJ said. They hugged and held each other.

Chapter 3

Three days later, Hayley was hanging out with Brian and Nick while AJ was out with Sarah.

      “Hayley, are you sure about this?” Brian asked.

      “He’s got to be sure that he is over her, that he is truly committed to me, but Kevin is watching him, AJ doesn’t know that,” Hayley said.    

      “You don’t trust AJ,” Nick said.

      “I do trust him, I just don’t trust her,” Hayley said. Nick looked at Brian.

      “If AJ truly loves you, he won’t give into her,” Nick said.

      “Guys, I know what I’m doing,” Hayley said. The phone rang. Hayley grabbed it.

      “Hello,” Hayley said.

      “Hayley, it’s Kev, I’m at one of the hotels, AJ and Sarah just checked into a room, they couldn’t keep their hands off each other,” Kevin said.

      “Are you certain of that?” Hayley asked.

      “Hayley, I would never lie to you and I never lied to you, and you know that I was supportive of you and AJ, I’ll hang out here, I know they never saw me because I have a disguise on that AJ has never seen before,” Kevin said.

      “Thanks, Kev,” Hayley said. She hung up.

      “Sis,” Brian said.

      “AJ and Sarah checked into a hotel room, according to Kevin, they couldn’t keep their hands off each other,” Hayley said.

      “Oh my god,” Nick said.

      “I can’t believe this,” Brian said.

      “I guess you were right all along, Brian, he would hurt me,” Hayley said.

      “I didn’t think it would actually happen,” Brian said. Hayley sat back. She stood up.

      “Is it okay if I go lay down on your bed, B,” Hayley said.

      “Yeah, you know it is,” Brian said. He got up and hugged her.

Hayley went upstairs and laid down and closed her eyes. Her cell phone rang. She answered it.

      “Hello,” Hayley said.

      “Hayley, it’s me,” AJ said.

      “Hi,” Hayley said.

      “Hayley, I hate to do this over the phone but I have to end things between us,” AJ said.

      “Why,” Hayley said.

      “Because I’m still in love with Sarah, and I want to be with her again, I didn’t want to hurt you like this but it’s how I feel, I’m sorry,” AJ said.

      “Whatever, have a nice life,” Hayley said. She hung up and turned off her phone and put it on Brian’s table. Brian came in.

      “Hayley,” Brian said.

      “He broke up with me, he wants to be with her again,” Hayley said.

      “Are you okay,” Brian said.

      “I will be, once I get some rest,” Hayley said. Brian nodded and went downstairs. Hayley closed her eyes and went to sleep.

Chapter 4

(Author’s Note: What is going to happen next is unreal and could never happen but this is just fiction so anything can happen in the story.)

Brian and Nick were talking when they heard Hayley scream upstairs. They ran upstairs and ran to Brian’s room and saw her sitting up. They noticed something different.

      “Hayley,” Brian said.

      “Did I have this when I went to sleep,” Hayley said pointing at her stomach, which has grown to look like she was pregnant.

      “No,” Brian said.

      “No,” Nick said.

      “Something is going on because I look like I’m pregnant and I never had my first time!” Hayley said.

      “Let’s go see a doctor,” Nick said. They went to the hospital and were in an examination room. A doctor came in.

      “Hello Hayley, I’m Dr. Thomas,” she said.

      “Hi, this is my brother, Brian and my best friend, Nick, can they stay, please, I don’t want them to leave,” Hayley said.

      “Sure, so what is the reason you are here?” Dr. Thomas said.

      “Somehow I look like I’m pregnant but that is impossible because I never had sex and I didn’t look like this when I went to sleep today,” Hayley said.

      “Let’s check it out,” Dr. Thomas said. She ran some tests and left the room.

      “I can’t believe this, how could this have happened,” Hayley said.

      “Did you wish for this?” Brian asked.

      “No, I didn’t,” Hayley said.

      “I know you wouldn’t lie about something like this,” Brian said. Dr. Thomas came back in.

      “Well, Hayley, the tests show you are pregnant, seven months to be exact,” Dr. Thomas said.

      “A month before you got together with AJ,” Nick said. Dr. Thomas got an ultrasound machine and they looked at the screen and saw the image.

      “There is the baby,” Dr. Thomas said.

      “This is unbelievable, and impossible, how could this happen without having sex,” Hayley said.

      “That is the mystery,” Dr. Thomas said.

      “I don’t want this getting out, I don’t like the press, especially when I’m with these guys,’ Hayley said.

      “We are part of the music group, Backstreet Boys, we get media attention all the time,” Nick said.

      “According to everyone else, just a normal girl coming in to get a checkup,” Dr. Thomas said.

      “But who is the father?” Hayley asked.

      “Let’s get that checked,” Dr. Thomas said. She ran a paternity test.

      “I will call you with the results and I will do it myself, I will triple check it,” Dr. Thomas said.

They went back to Brian’s. Nick went to get her stuff from AJ’s.

      “I can’t believe this is happening,” Hayley said.

      “Me either,” Brian said.

      “I am still wondering how this could happen,” Hayley said.

      “Maybe it was a miracle, or God thought you should have a baby,” Brian said.

      “I guess,” Hayley said. Brian hugged her.

      “Whatever happened, I won’t let you go through this alone, I’m here for you,” Brian said.

      “I know you are, bro, I love you,” Hayley said.

      “I love you, too, sis,” Brian said. Nick came in with her stuff. The phone rang. Brian answered it.

      “Hello, hold on, it’s Dr. Thomas,” Brian said.

      “Hello, what, are you sure, okay, thanks, bye,” Hayley said. She hung up the phone.

      “So,” Brian said.

      “She knows who the father is,” Hayley said.

      “Who is the father?” Brian asked. Hayley looked up at Nick and looked at Brian. She looked at Nick.

      “She said the father of my baby is Nick Carter,” Hayley said.

      “But we never slept together,” Nick said.

      “I know, but she ran the tests three times, you are the father,” Hayley said.

      “Oh boy,” Nick said sitting down. Brian looked at him.

      “Nick,” Brian said.

      “I’m not going to abandon my baby, Brian,” Nick said. Brian smiled.

      “I know because I know it is your baby,” Brian said.

      “What,” Nick said.

      “You two did sleep together, you just don’t remember it,” Brian said.

      “What!” Hayley said.

      “I forgot all about it until just now, remember the party we had for Howie for his birthday, you two had too much to drink and were all over each other, I took you guys back here and I went to get some Tylenol at the store and when I came back, you two were in bed having sex,” Brian said.

      “Oh my god,” Hayley said.

      “I can’t believe this,” Nick said.

      “My first time and I can’t remember it, I thought I never had it and I did!” Hayley said.

      “Hayley, I can’t remember it and I think it was my first time, too,” Nick said.

      “So what do we do,” Hayley said.

      “I don’t know,” Nick said.

      “You two should get married,” Brian said.

      “Brian, we aren’t even a couple!” Hayley said.

      “For the baby’s sake,” Brian said.

      “I think it would be a good idea,” Nick said.

      “Yeah,” Hayley said. Brian made the arrangements.

Chapter 5

Three days later, everyone was gathered at the church. Hayley was talking with her mother.

      “I just can’t believe this,” Jackie said.

      “I didn’t plan for this to happen, Mom, I just partied too hard at Howie’s birthday party, I didn’t drive home,” Hayley said.

      “But you are pregnant and you are just getting married,” Jackie said.

      “I know, I’m sorry, I woke up after a nap and saw my stomach, I guess my stomach decide to expand,” Hayley said.

      “Sudden growth is probably what happened,” Jackie said.

      “Or it was hidden and I wasn’t thinking anything of it or I might have thought I was getting fat,” Hayley said.

      “Honey,” Jackie said.

      “Mom, I’m doing the right thing, I am marrying Nick for the baby’s sake, he’s the father, it’s the right thing for this child,” Hayley said. She sat down.

      “But do you love Nick?” Jackie asked.

      “I do, as a friend, Mom, he’s been my best friend since we’ve met and I trust him with my life,” Hayley said.

      “But do you love him, are you in love with him,” Jackie said.

      “Mom, this is the right thing to do, I’m not going to let my child be born without me being married to its father, you taught me that, Mother, be married before a child is born, were those your words, Mom,” Hayley said. Jackie hung her head.

      “Yes, they were,” Jackie said.

      “Then stop trying to talk me out of it, this baby is Nick’s, I am going to marry him for the baby,” Hayley said. Harold came in.

      “Ready?” Harold asked.

      “Yes, Daddy,” Hayley said getting up. They went out. Jackie went to her seat. Harold walked Hayley down the aisle. Nick and Hayley were married and pronounced husband and wife when the doors burst open and AJ came running up the aisle.

      “Hayley, don’t do this,” AJ asked.

      “Why,” Hayley said.

      “Because I can’t live without you,” AJ said.

      “It’s too late, AJ,” Brian said.

      “We were just pronounced husband and wife,” Nick said.

      “You went along with this,” AJ said.

      “Yes, I did,” Hayley said.

      “Why,” AJ said.

      “I’m seven months pregnant, AJ, with Nick’s child, we had a one nighter after Howie’s birthday party, Nick and I were drunk and Brian brought us home and went to the store and came back and found me and Nick in bed, naked and sharing our first time, although we really don’t remember it, it happened, I’m having his baby, we got married, I can’t be with you anymore, you go be with Sarah, that’s who you wanted to be with when you called and broke up with me, nothing can change anything,” Hayley said.

      “Hayley,” AJ said.

      “AJ, just let go, okay, we can’t be together and you ruined everything when you broke up with me, I can’t be with you anymore,” Hayley said. AJ went out the door. Everyone went home. Nick and Hayley went to his house.

      “Well, what now,” Nick said.

      “I don’t know,” Hayley said. They saw something on the table. Hayley picked it up.

      “A videotape, it says watch this tape,” Nick said. Hayley put it in and pushed play. The image came up and they saw themselves in bed, having sex.

      “Oh my god,” Hayley said.

      “Yeah,” Nick said. There was sound.

      “Oh god, Nick, I’ve wanted this for so long,” Hayley said on the tape.

      “So have I,” Nick said. Hayley turned it off.

      “I can’t believe I said that,” Hayley said.

      “Same here,” Nick said.

That night, Hayley was in her own room sleeping. She was having dreams of what she saw on the video. The next morning, she got up and walked to the bathroom and opened the door and saw Nick getting out of the shower.

      “Oh god, sorry,” Hayley said quickly going out the door. She went to her room and closed the door and leaned against it.

      “What is happening to me, am I falling for him?” Hayley asked herself as she locked the door and laid on the bed.

Epilogue

Hayley sat on the bed when there was a knock at the door. She opened the door and saw Nick standing there dressed. He cupped her face in his hands and kissed her deeply. She couldn’t believe this was happening. Her arms went around him as he pulled her closer. He pulled back and rested his forehead against hers.

      “I’ve wanted to do that for a long time,” Nick said. Hayley looked up in his eyes.

      “Same here,” Hayley said.

      “Hayley,” Nick said.

      “Yeah,” Hayley said as he began kissing her neck.

      “Let me make love to you,” Nick said.

      “Oh god, please do,” Hayley said closing her eyes. He gently pulled her over to the bed. He closed the door and locked it and sat on the bed. He slowly removed her clothes and removed his and he gazed at her body. They laid on the bed and with her on top, they made love for the first time as husband and wife. He was gentle and loving towards her and she knew she would never lose him. Two months later, she gave birth to their child, a girl they named Emily Marie Carter. Nick and Hayley gazed at their daughter and they knew they would never be apart.
