Nick sat in the hospital looking at his girlfriend. His girlfriend, Hayley, was in a car accident and was in a coma for three weeks now. The doctors are worried that she will never wake up but Nick knew Hayley wouldn’t leave him. The guys had been in to visit but had gone home. Nick refused to leave the hospital. The guys were on tour when they got the call about Hayley’s accident. Nick immediately flew back. Brian, Howie, AJ, and Kevin talked with management and agreed to postpone the tour until Hayley was better.  Nick held her hand. Brian came in.

        “Nick, you need to go home and rest, you look like crap,” Brian said.

        “Brian, don’t start, okay, I am not leaving until she wakes up,” Nick said.

        “Nick, you need to go home and rest, you can’t just move into the hospital, you need to go home,” Brian said.

        “Why are you doing this, you know that I love her more than life itself and I can’t leave her and you are trying to get me to leave,” Nick said.

        “I’m looking out for you, man, plus, Leighanne told me to stay with Hayley and send you home to rest, do it for Hayley, man,” Brian said.

        “Fine, but you better call me if she wakes up,” Nick said. He went home.  He took a shower and ate some food and laid down and went to sleep. (* means dream) * Nick woke up to the phone ringing. He sat up and answered it.

        “Hello,” Nick said.

        “Nick, it’s Brian,” Brian said.

        “Brian, what is it,” Nick said.

        “Man, I’m sorry, but Hayley is gone,” Brian said

        “Gone, what do you mean gone,” Nick said.

        “She’s dead, Nick, she is gone,” Brian said.

        “No, she can’t be!” Nick said.

        “Nick, I never left her side, she flat-lined and the doctors couldn’t bring her back,” Brian said.

        “NO!” Nick yelled. He threw the phone and collapsed back on the bed and cried. Kevin and AJ came running in and kept him under control.

        “Nick,” Kevin said.

        “No, she’s not dead, she can’t be dead, she wouldn’t leave me, I know she wouldn’t!” Nick cried.

        “Nick, she’s gone, man, we were there when it was happening, they did everything they could,” AJ said.

        “She promised me she wouldn’t leave me, ever, she wouldn’t leave me!” Nick said.

        “Nick, she is in a better place now, watching over you,” Kevin said. Nick cried and Kevin held him.*

Nick sat up and looked around. He jumped out of bed and got dressed and ran out the door and went to the hospital. He ran to her room and ran in and saw Brian sitting there.

        “Brian,” Nick said.

        “She hasn’t woken up yet, nothing has happened since you left,” Brian said.

        “I dreamt that you called and said she died,” Nick said.

        “Nick, you know she wouldn’t leave you,” Brian said.

        “I know, god I love her so much,” Nick said.

        “I know you do,” Brian said. They heard a moan. They looked at the bed and saw Hayley’s eyes fluttering. Brian went to get the doctor. Nick took her hand.

        “Hayley, baby, it’s Nick, I’m here,” Nick said. Hayley opened her eyes and looked at him and smiled.

        “Nicky,” Hayley said.

        “Hey baby, thank god you are awake,” Nick said. The doctor came in and examined Hayley.

        “She is going to make a great recovery,” the doctor said. Nick smiled and went over to her.

        “Did you hear that,” Nick said.

        “Yes, Nick, I did, I’m going to be fine, thanks to you, your love kept me here, you saved me, your love for me kept me alive,” Hayley said.
