Nick sat there watching his best friend, Hayley, make out with her husband and Nick’s bandmate, Kevin. They hadn’t been backstage for two seconds before Kevin had Hayley against the wall, kissing her hungrily. Nick felt his heart twinge as he watched them. He was in love with his best friend, but her being married and deeply in love with Kevin prevented him from doing anything about it. Brian sat down beside him.

     “Don’t even think about it, Frack,” Brian said.

     “What,” Nick said.

     “Going after Hayley,” Brian said.

     “Do you think I’m stupid, I don’t want to hurt her,” Nick said.

     “Then give up,” Brian said.

     “I haven’t even made a move and I’m not going to,” Nick said.

     “Good,” Brian said. Nick saw Kevin’s hands roaming Hayley’s body.

     “Get a room!” Nick said. Kevin and Hayley broke apart and saw Nick glaring at them.

     “Nickolas,” Brian said.

     “I’m sorry, but if they are going to make out and stuff, at least get a room away from those who don’t have other halves,” Nick said. He got up and stormed out of the room. He went to his dressing room and slammed the door.

Hayley looked at Brian who shrugged. She went to Nick’s dressing room and went in and saw him sitting on the couch with his arms crossed.

     “Nick, what the hell is wrong with you!” Hayley said.

     “What do you mean,” Nick said coldly.

     “Your comments out there,” Hayley said.

     “I’m just tired of watching you and your husband make out all the time, everywhere I turn, you two are making out, if you are going to do that, then do it in Kevin’s dressing room,” Nick said not looking at her.

     “Nicky, come on, something is bothering you,” Hayley said.

     “Nothing is bothering me, you guys make me jealous because you guys got each other and I have nobody,” Nick said. He got out a piece of paper.

     “What’s that,” Hayley said. He handed it to her and she read it and sat beside him.

     “Our pact,” Nick said.

     “The pact we made when we turned eighteen, that if we didn’t find our true loves when we turned 25, we would be each other’s first time,” Hayley said.

     “Yeah, you got married at 24,” Nick said.

     “And I had my first time, god, Nicky, I’m so sorry,” Hayley said.

     “Yeah, that’s me, the 25 year old virgin,” Nick said.

     “You’ll find the right person,” Hayley said.

     “Yeah right,” Nick said.

     “You will,” Hayley said. Nick looked at her and shook his head.

Chapter 2

Hayley went to find Kevin. He saw her and smiled and took her in his arms and kissed her. She led him to his dressing room and closed the door. Their clothes went flying and he laid her on the couch and got on top of her and made love to her. Afterwards, Hayley told him what happened with Nick. Kevin got up and got dressed. Hayley got dressed.

     “Kev, don’t, he’s just upset because he has nobody,” Hayley said.

     “He wants to make that pact happen,” Kevin said.

     “Honey, he’s just upset because I broke the pact, you know, because I married you and our wedding night,” Hayley said.

     “I never thought our being married would hurt him, I thought he was happy for us,” Kevin said.

     “He was just hiding his true feelings, you know how he is,” Hayley said.

     “Maybe I should talk to him,” Kevin said.

     “Without fists?” Hayley asked. Kevin looked at her.

     “Of course, I couldn’t hurt Nick, he’s my little brother, and I know how much he means to you,” Kevin said. He got up and got dressed and kissed her and went to Nick’s dressing room. Hayley got dressed and sat there thinking. Kevin came back in and looked at her. He sat down.

     “He’s miserable,” Kevin said.

     “He’s just lonely,” Hayley said.

     “Go,” Kevin said.

     “What,” Hayley said.

     “Honor the pact for him, be his first,” Kevin said. Hayley looked at her husband.

     “Are you serious?” Hayley asked not believing what he was saying.

     “I trust you and I trust him, give him his first time, make him happy,” Kevin said.

     “I can’t believe you are saying this, you want me, your wife, to go sleep with Nick, your bandmate and brother,” Hayley said.

     “I hate seeing him like that and you two had that pact and I feel guilty that we got married before you two could act on it,” Kevin said. Hayley shook her head.

     “I can’t do that, Kevin, as much as it hurts me to see Nick in pain, I can’t sleep with another guy,” Hayley said.

     “Baby, you can, I am letting you,” Kevin said. Hayley looked at him.

     “Why, are you not telling me something,” Hayley said.

     “There is nothing for me to tell,” Kevin said stroking her cheek.

     “Are you sure about this,” Hayley said.

     “Positive, I want my little brother happy again,” Kevin said.

They all went to the hotel and Hayley went with Nick. Kevin headed for his suite. Brian came up to him.

     “Why are you doing this?” Brian asked.

     “I want him happy,” Kevin said.

     “You just made the biggest mistake of your life, he’s in love with her,” Brian said.

     “I know that, cuz, as much as she denies it, she’s in love with him,” Kevin said.

     “You are setting them up to want each other,” Brian said.

     “I can’t deny her happiness,” Kevin said.

     “I hope you know what you are doing,” Brian said.

Kevin went into his suite and sat down. He knew he was doing the right thing.

Nick collapsed on top of Hayley, all hot and sweaty and buried his face in her neck. He rolled off and laid beside her on the bed.

     “Wow,” Nick said. Hayley laid there looking at the ceiling. She couldn’t believe she went along with this. She got up and got dressed and ran out the door. She went to Kevin’s suite and went in with her keycard and saw him sitting on the couch.

     “Well,” Kevin said.

     “It’s done,” Hayley said.

     “How do you feel?” Kevin asked.

     “Upset because I went along with it and confused because now I am feeling different,” Hayley said.

     “Different?” Kevin asked.

     “Yeah, different, I see him in a new light,” Hayley said.

     “Are you in love with him?” Kevin asked.

     “I think I am,” Hayley said sitting down.

     “I knew you were, that’s why I wanted you to do it, I want you to be happy, Hayley, and I know you would be happy with him, I’m letting you go,” Kevin said.

     “What,” Hayley said.

     “I called Sam and asked for divorce papers, I would like to part as friends and you won’t have to worry, I set up a bank account and put money in there for you,” Kevin said.

     “Are you sure about this,” Hayley said.

     “Yes, I gave it a lot of thought, go be with him, Hayley, I know you want to,” Kevin said.

     “I don’t know,” Hayley said. Kevin hugged her. She rested her head on his shoulder.

     “Hayley, I know it’s what you want, what you have always wanted, if you didn’t, you two wouldn’t have made that pact when you both were eighteen,” Kevin said. Hayley hugged him and left the room and went back to Nick’s and went in and saw him sitting on the bed in his boxers. She sat next to him.

     “He let me go, Nicky, he’s filing for a divorce,” Hayley said.

     “So what now?” Nick asked. He looked at her. She looked at him.

Chapter 3

Hayley looked at Nick and looked at her hands. She looked back at Nick.

     “He said that I want to be with you,” Hayley said. Nick looked at her.

     “He said that?” Nick asked.

     “Yeah,” Hayley said.

     “Wow,” Nick said.

     “Nick, tell me what you want, really, the truth,” Hayley said.  Nick looked at her and smiled.

     “Hayley, I’m in love with you, and when we made love, that was amazing, it made my feelings for you go deeper than before, I want to be with you, if you want to be with me, I would be in heaven,” Nick said.

     “Kevin was right, I do want to be with you,” Hayley said. He took her in his arms and kissed her as they laid on the bed and began removing their clothes and made love.

The next morning, word got around to Brian, Howie, and AJ that Kevin had filed for a divorce and Nick and Hayley were together. Brian thought Kevin was crazy but once he say Nick smiling and happy, he didn’t say anything about it. Nick and Hayley were cuddling together when there was a knock at the door. Nick got up and opened the door and saw Mandy standing there. She smiled and kissed him. He pulled back.

     “What are you doing here,” Nick said.

     “I wanted to see you,” Mandy said. Nick looked back at Hayley, who was glaring at him. She got up and pushed past them and went down the hall. Nick ran after her.

     “Hayley,” Nick said.

     “Don’t you dare touch me!” Hayley said. She got on the elevators and went down to the lobby. She got off the elevators and walked and bumped into someone. She looked and saw that it was Kevin. Behind him was Brian.

     “Hayley,” Kevin said. He saw that she was upset and angry. He led her back upstairs to his room.

     “Why did you let me go!” Hayley cried after telling him what happened.

     “I don’t know,” Kevin said.

     “Kev, do you still want me,” Hayley said.

     “You are still my wife, I still love you, I still want you,” Kevin said. Hayley straddled him.

     “I don’t want a divorce,” Hayley said.

     “Are you sure, you will be stuck with me,” Kevin said.

     “I’m sure, Kev,” Hayley said. Kevin kissed her and took her into the bedroom and they removed their clothes and made love. They laid there afterwards and held each other not wanting to let go.

Chapter 4

That night at the show, Nick cornered Hayley. She glared at him.

     “What the hell do you want!” Hayley said.

     “I want to explain!” Nick said.

     “I don’t fucking care!” Hayley said.

     “Hayley, please, we’ve been best friends for far too long to throw everything away,” Nick said. Hayley looked at him and knew he was right. She sighed.

     “Explain,” Hayley said.

     “The night before we made love, I met Mandy, we went out and we didn’t click, well for me anyway, because all I could think of was you, she must have followed me here because she wanted more, but I told her that I didn’t,” Nick said.

     “That the truth?” Hayley asked.

     “Yeah, god, Hayley, I wouldn’t lie to you, I wasn’t expecting her to show up here,” Nick said. Hayley looked at him.

     “Nick, I’m sorry, I should have stopped and listened to you,” Hayley said.

     “You had every right to be mad, you didn’t know the truth,” Nick said.

     “God, Nick, I feel so stupid, I got back together with Kevin last night, yeah, I was that upset, now I’m stuck with him,” Hayley said.

     “Oh, so I guess no more us,” Nick said.

     “I’m sorry, Nicky,” Hayley said.

     “It’s fine, I’ll be fine,” Nick said. He went to his dressing room. Kevin came up to Hayley.

     “What happened,” Hayley said

     “A misunderstanding, that girl was someone he went out on a date and it didn’t work for him, she followed him here wanting more but he didn’t want more, he wanted me,” Hayley said.

     “You told him about us,” Kevin said. Hayley nodded and looked down the hall.

     “I’ll go talk to him,” Kevin said. He went to Nick’s dressing room.

That night, Hayley was sitting in the VIP booth watching the guys. All the guys left except Kevin and Nick.

     “Hello all, as you may know that I’m married, but that is going to change, it’s my fault to step in between true love, which has happened between Nick here and my wife, my wife and Nick grew up together, I didn’t know that they were secretly pining for each other, I came in and swept my wife off her feet, I am filing for a divorce and I am letting true love happen, there are no hard feelings between any of us, I want my wife to be happy and I know she will be happy with her best friend, Nick here, so he is going to sing Heaven to her,” Kevin said. He went backstage. Nick looked up at the VIP booth and sang Heaven.  After the song was over, he looked back up and saw her gone. He went backstage and saw her standing there. He took her into his arms and she kissed him deeply. Kevin smiled as he watched them.

     “Will you be okay, cuz?” Brian asked him.

     “Yeah, knowing she’s happy, I’ll be okay,” Kevin said.

Epilogue

A few months went by. Kevin and Hayley were officially divorced and Hayley and Nick were getting married. They all were at the church. They watched as Hayley and Nick became husband and wife. Kevin smiled.

     “Are you happy, Kev,” Brian said.

     “Yeah, they belong together,” Kevin said.

     “Yeah, they do,” Brian said watching Nick and Hayley shared their first kiss as husband and wife. They all went to the reception where Hayley hugged Kevin.

     “Kevin, you are amazing,” Hayley said.

     “I know, I wanted you to be happy and you are and you two belong together,” Kevin said.

     “You will always be special to me,” Hayley said. She kissed his cheek and went back to Nick. Kevin smiled. He knew he did the right thing.
