Brian was sitting there looking at a poster of his sister, Hayley, who has been
missing since he was ten. She was only five years old when she was taken from them. Brian remembered the day she was taken.
He, Kevin, and Harold were out back playing. Hayley was in the front yard. They heard her scream and ran around and saw her
being pushed into a car and they watched the car drive off. The police caught the guy who took her but he told them he dumped
her into an alley. They searched the alley but she was gone. Brian was devastated. He and Hayley had a special bond that no
one else could have. From that moment on, Brian wasn't the same. He never gave up hope that Hayley was going to come back.
Now he was sitting there when the phone rang.
"Hello," Brian said.
"Hi honey," Jackie said. She sounded upset.
"Mama, what is it," Brian said.
"The police closed your sister's case, they said she is presumed dead," Jackie
said.
"She is not dead, I can feel it, she is still out there somewhere," Brian said.
"I know, honey, but it's been almost twenty years, they don't think she's coming
back," Jackie said.
"I miss her so much," Brian said.
"We all do, baby duck," Jackie said.
"Bye Mama," Brian said.
"Bye honey," Jackie said. Brian hung up and covered his face and cried. Kevin
and Nick came in.
"Brian," Kevin said.
"The Lexington police have closed Hayley's case, they said she is presumed dead,"
Brian said crying. Kevin sat down and hugged him.
"Like you, I have this feeling she is still out there alive somewhere," Kevin
said.
"I can't give up, Kev, we have to find her," Brian said.
"Let's go to the mall," Nick said.
"Nick," Brian said.
"Come on, man," Nick said pulling him up. They went to the mall. Brian went to
Sports Authority with Kevin and Nick behind him. Brian looked at everything.
"Um, Brian, look at that girl," Nick said. Brian and Kevin looked and saw the
girl and they looked at each other. She had the looks of a Littrell.
"Do you know her name?" Brian asked.
"Yeah, her name is Hayley Hardin, we talk every time I come in here," Nick said.
"Hi Nick," Hayley said coming over to them.
"Hi Hayley, these two guys are my best friends, Kevin Richardson and Brian Littrell,"
Nick said.
"Littrell?" Hayley asked.
"Yeah, that's my last name," Brian said.
"You seem very familar to me," Hayley said.
"I do?" Brian asked.
"Same goes to you," Kevin said.
"What," Hayley said.
"You have the same first name as my sister," Brian said.
"I do?" Hayley asked.
"You did," Brian said.
"What happened?" Hayley asked.
"She was kidnapped from the front yard of our house when she was five, the police
caught the guy but he said he dumped her in an alley, but when the police searched, she was gone, she is presumed dead," Brian
said.
"Where at?" Hayley asked.
"Lexington, Kentucky," Kevin said.
"That's where I was adopted at, at the hospital up there, I don't remember anything
before I was five," Hayley said.
"Um, could you take a blood test?" Brian asked.
"You think I'm your sister, that's impossible," Hayley said.
"Please," Brian said.
"All right," Hayley said. After her shift ended, Brian, Kevin, and Nick took her
to the hospital for a blood test. Brian gave them a sample of his blood. They sat and waited. The doctor came back with the
results. He smiled.
"They are a match, you two are brother and sister," The doctor said. Brian grinned.
Hayley looked at him and hugged him.
"I had a feeling you were family, now I know the truth, I wasn't given away, I
was taken from my family," Hayley said.
Two days later, everyone was over at Brian's house, meeting Hayley and learning
the story of her life away from her family. The doorbell rang. Brian looked at Hayley. She stood up and followed him to the
door. Brian opened it and saw his parents. They saw Hayley and Jackie started crying and came in and hugged Hayley for a long
time. They joined everyone in the living room and everyone sang Amazing Grace.
Amazing grace, how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me.
I once was
lost, but now I'm found.
'Twas blind, but now I see.
'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear
And grace my fears
relieved.
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed.
When we've been there ten thousand years
Bright
shining as the sun,
We've no less days to sing God's praise
Then when we first begun.
Amazing grace, how sweet the
sound
That saved a wretch like me.
I once was lost, but now I'm found.
Was blind, but now I see.
