Nick sat there backstage watching his older bandmate, Kevin, talk to them about after the show.

      “Okay, so after the show, we are leaving for the next city, so get as much sleep on the bus you can,” Kevin said.

      “Yes, sir,” Nick, Brian, AJ, and Howie said.

      “Funny,” Kevin said. He went to his dressing room.

      “What’s his problem?” Nick asked.

      “He got his divorce papers from Kristin,” Brian said.

      “Damn,” Nick said.

      “No wonder he’s bossy,” AJ said.

Nick’s childhood friend, Hayley, came out of Nick’s dressing room.

      “What’s up, guys,” Hayley said hugging Nick. He always liked her hugs. He hoped she wouldn’t stop giving him hugs. She was the only person who knew him inside out and would never judge him and he could always talk to her about anything.

      “Not much, we were just listening to Mr. Boss,” AJ said.

      “Hayley, can I talk to you,” Nick said getting up. He pulled her into his dressing room and closed the door.

      “What’s up,” Hayley said.

      “You know I’m bi-sexual, right,” Nick said.

      “Yeah,” Hayley said.

      “I think I have feelings for Kevin,” Nick said. Hayley looked at him.

      “And you think he doesn’t feel the same way,” Hayley said.

      “I doubt it, I don’t know what he’s sexuality is right now, he’s divorcing Kristin,” Nick said.

      “Talk to him,” Hayley said.

      “I can’t,” Nick said.

      “I’ll talk to him, I won’t mention anything about you having feelings for him,” Hayley said.

      “Feelings for who?” a voice behind them said. They looked and saw Kevin standing there.

      “How much did you hear?” Hayley said.

      “Everything,” Kevin said. Nick’s face went white.

      “What is your take on all this, Kevin, are you going to hurt him, break his heart, beat him up for being bi, you are the only one who didn’t know that, he was scared to tell you because you are his big brother,” Hayley said.

      “I want to talk to him,” Kevin said.

      “Anything you say to him can be said in front of me,” Hayley said.

      “Hayley, please,” Nick said. Hayley looked at him and went out the door and went down and saw with Brian, AJ, and Howie.

Chapter 2

Hayley sat there with Brian, Howie, and AJ. She kept watching Nick’s dressing room.

      “I hope Kevin isn’t hurting him,” Hayley said.

      “He better not be or he’ll have us on his ass for hurting him,” AJ said.

      “Five against one, those are the odds if he hurts Nick,” Brian said.

      “No one knows how Kevin feels about this,” Howie said.

They heard shouting and a crash and Kevin came out of the dressing room and looked at them and went to his dressing room. Hayley ran to Nick’s dressing room and went in and saw Nick curled up in a ball on the couch, crying. She went over to him and knelt down in front of him.

      “Nick, I’m here,” Hayley said. She sat down and he sat up and collapsed in her arms crying.

      “He told me to get over it and move on,” Nick said crying. Brian, Howie, and AJ stood at the door. Howie and AJ went to Kevin’s dressing room. Brian came in and sat down beside Nick.

      “Hey Frack,” Brian said. Nick looked at him and moved to hug Brian. Like Hayley, Brian knew Nick inside and out and would never judge him. Brian looked up and saw his cousin standing at the door with Howie and AJ behind him. Brian glared at him and shook his head. Kevin went back to his dressing room. Nick pulled himself together and straightened up and looked at Brian and Hayley.

      “Well, is there a show to do?” Nick asked. He went out the door. Brian and Hayley looked at each other.

      “He’ll be fine for the show, afterwards is a different story,” Hayley said.

      “Yeah,” Brian said.

The guys went on. Nick stayed as far from Kevin as he could without anyone noticing or thinking differently. He flirted with all the girls and acted like normal. When they were performing The Answer To Our Lives, Kevin couldn’t help but watch Nick play the drums from time to time. After the show was over, they went to shower. Everyone but Nick, who waited until after Kevin was out before going in. He found Hayley in her bathing suit.

      “Hey Nicky,” Hayley said. Nick hugged her.

      “Thanks for being in here with me,” Nick said.

      “Nicky, I’m always here for you, now shower,” Hayley said. He stripped and started showering.

Kevin watched the other guys go to their buses. He slowly walked to the showers. He peeked in and saw Nick showering. He saw Hayley in her bathing suit, helping him shower. He felt so guilty. Someone tapped him on the back and he turned and saw Brian standing there. Brian pulled him outside.

      “What the hell are you doing?” Brian asked.

      “I just…” Kevin started to say.

      “I know, you are spying on him to see how he’s handling everything, I would say he’s lucky to have Hayley with him, otherwise he wouldn’t be able to stand long enough to shower, god, Kevin, you really hurt him,” Brian said. Brian looked at his cousin.

      “Oh god, Kev, are you?” Brian asked.

      “I lied, cuz, I’m also bi and have feelings for Nick, I just didn’t know what to do,” Kevin said. Brian saw Nick and Hayley coming out the doors. They walked to Nick’s bus and got on. Brian looked at Kevin.

      “Then stop hurting Nick and make things right, make him happy again,” Brian said.

      “I don’t know what to say to him,” Kevin said. Brian looked at him.

      “Go to your bus, I’ll get him to come to you,” Brian said. Kevin went to his bus and got on. He sat down.

Brian went to Nick’s bus and got on and saw Nick lying on the couch with his head on Hayley’s lap.

      “Nick, Kevin wants to talk to you, now,” Brian said.

      “Why,” Nick said.

      “Something about the set list for the next show,” Brian said.

      “I don’t know,” Nick said.

      “Nick, it’s important,” Brian said. Nick groaned and went to Kevin’s bus. Hayley looked at Brian.

      “Brian, what’s going on,” Hayley said.

      “Kevin lied, he feels the same way that Nick does, he was scared of what to do or say, he was in shock,” Brian said.

      “Do you think things will work out,” Hayley said.

      “I hope so,” Brian said. He went to his bus.

Chapter 3

Nick got on Kevin’s bus and saw him sitting at the table. Nick sat down.

      “So what is so important that you need to talk about, Brian said you wanted to go over the set list for the next show,” Nick said. Kevin looked at him.

      “Yeah, uh, I’m adding in your solo,” Kevin said.

      “My solo,” Nick said.

      “Yeah, I Need You Tonight,” Kevin said.

      “Why my solo,” Nick said.

      “Because there has been requests for it, there was polls at the doors on who should sing solos, you won,” Kevin said.

      “Whatever,” Nick said. The buses started pulling out. Nick looked at Kevin.

      “Oh great, I’m stuck on here until we get there,” Nick said.

      “Is that a problem?” Kevin asked.

      “You don’t like me,” Nick said. Kevin looked at him.

      “Nick, we should talk about that,” Kevin said. Nick got up and looked out the window. Kevin got up behind him. Nick could feel him.

      “Kevin, why are you close to me?” Nick asked.

      “Because I feel the same way you do,” Kevin said. Nick froze.

      “What,” Nick said.

      “I lied, Nick, I do feel the same way you do, I’m also bi and I have feelings for you,” Kevin said.

      “You are not just saying that,” Nick said.

      “I mean every word,” Kevin said. Nick looked at him.

      “What happens now?” Nick asked.

      “Play it by day,” Kevin said. The bus hit a bump and they fell on the floor, Kevin landing on top of Nick. They stared at each other. They were blocked out of view from the driver. They stared into each other’s eyes. They moved closer and their lips met. They pulled back and looked at each other.

      “Wow,” Nick said.

      “Yeah, wow, I felt something,” Kevin said.

      “Same here,” Nick said. They kissed again.

Two weeks went by. Nick and Kevin got closer every day. They were officially a couple and the guys couldn’t be happier for them. Hayley was feeling left out although she should be happy but Nick was spending every minute with Kevin. She shouldn’t feel this way but she couldn’t help it. She missed her best buddy. She sat watching Nick and Kevin talk. Brian sat next to her.

      “Hey girl, you okay,” Brian said.

      “I know I should be happy for them, but I miss him,” Hayley said.

      “Same here,” Brian said.

Three months, the tour ended and everyone went home. Brian and Hayley had grown closer and were inseparable for the remainder of the tour. So were Kevin and Nick. Hayley went to her house and started unpacking when there was a knock at the door. She opened it and saw Brian standing there. She let him in and closed the door.

      “Hayley,” Brian said. She turned and he was so close to her. They looked at each other and they were in each other’s arms, kissing. They moved to her bedroom and collapsed on the bed.

Nick and Kevin arrived at Hayley’s house.

      “I regret not hanging out with Hayley like I usually do,” Nick said.

      “I’m sorry,” Kevin said.

      “Not your fault, I know Hayley, she would have said something but Brian was there for her,” Nick said.

      “Yeah,” Kevin said. Nick went in and looked around. He heard sounds upstairs. He went upstairs with Kevin behind him. He looked in Hayley’s bedroom and saw his two best friends in bed, making love.

      “Hello?!” Nick said. They broke apart and saw them.

      “Nick!” Hayley said.

      “Like surprise,” Nick said.

      “Wow,” Kevin said.

      “What are you guys doing here,” Brian said grabbing his clothes.

      “Well, me, feeling guilty for neglecting one of my best friends, came over to take her out to dinner but looks like I got the surprise,” Nick said.

      “I’m surprised,” Kevin said.

      “Well, Brian and I got close since you two got together,” Hayley said.

      “I can see that, totally see that, sorry to interrupt,” Nick said. He went downstairs. Kevin shrugged and followed. Hayley jumped up and got her clothes on and ran downstairs.

      “Nick, wait!” Hayley said.

      “No, Hayley, I know you better than anyone, if you were feeling left out, you could have come and told me, instead, you went after my other best friend, now I know what it feels like, to be stabbed in the back, you could have told me anything, you didn’t have to hide it,” Nick said angrily. He went out the door.

      “Kev,” Brian said.

      “Like I said, I’m surprised,” Kevin said. He followed Nick out the door.

Chapter 4

That night, they were at the venue at the Orlando Arena. It was the end of the road concert. The guys were changing when a stagehand gave a note to Nick. Nick opened it and read it.

Nicky, I’m sorry if I hurt you in any way, I didn’t want to come between you and Kevin. I wanted you two to build your relationship before I said anything. I really care about Brian and he cares about me, I thought you would be happy for us. That I found someone like him. I want to be back in your heart, Nick, I know when you get this note, the next song is Back to Your Heart, it’s dedicated from me to you, I love you, Nicky, always, Hayley.

Nick looked at Brian who nodded. They went onstage and performed Back to Your Heart. Nick saw Hayley during the song and never took her eyes off of her as he sang. She was crying and singing along. Her hand was over her heart. After the song was over, the fans screamed. Nick looked at Hayley with tears in his eyes. He mouthed the words ‘I love you’ to her. She mouthed them back. The guys went on with the concert. After it was over, Nick ran backstage and saw Hayley standing there. He ran to her and hugged her tight. They both cried and held onto each other.

      “I’m sorry,” they both said.  Brian and Kevin were smiling. They started clapping.

      “About time, guys,” Kevin said.

      “Yeah,” Brian said.  Nick pulled Hayley to his dressing room and sat down with her.

      “I support you and Brian’s relationship, I was just surprised,” Nick said.

      “Yeah,” Hayley said.

      “Hayley, I will never make you feel left out again, anytime you want to hang out, just call, I will drop everything to spend time with you, you are my best friend, nothing can change that,” Nick said.

      “And I will not hide anything from you,” Hayley said.

      “Hayley, I knew I loved you for a reason, you are the only one who knows me, the real me,” Nick said. Hayley hugged him.

      “Nothing will change what we have, best friends forever,” Hayley said.

      “Best friends forever,” Nick said. They hugged and knew that things were going to work out. Kevin and Brian came in and Kevin and Nick sat on the couch talking while holding hands while Hayley and Brian cuddled on the couch. They all were happy with the way things turned out and knew that nothing could come between them.
