Hayley looked at her Christmas
tree and smiled. It was her first Christmas in her new home in Miami. She decided to go shopping for presents for her family. She went to the mall. She was looking at some clothes when
she looked up and saw Brian Littrell and his wife,
Leighanne. She turned away to avoid being seen by them. She was Brian’s sister and she ran away from
home after he left to join the Backstreet Boys.
She felt eyes on her and she walked away. She felt a hand on her arm and she turned and looked and saw Brian standing there.
“You can’t run from us forever, Hayley, Mom and Dad are worried about you,” Brian said.
She pulled away from him.
“Excuse me, but my name is Trish, I don’t know you,” Hayley said.
“Cut it out, Hayley, I know it’s you, I can spot Littrell looks a mile away, you look like Mom so don’t
play dumb with me,” Brian said. She looked at him.
“So what if you found me, I’m not going back home, I have a new life, it doesn’t include any of you,
I don’t want anything to do with you or the family, so leave me alone,” Hayley said. She walked away and ran out
to her car and drove home. She went inside and closed the door and leaned against it.
“Hey, what’s wrong, baby,” Nick said. What she didn’t know was that Nick knew Brian but Nick
didn’t know that Hayley was Brian’s sister.
“I ran into someone I didn’t expect to see and don’t care to see ever again,” Hayley said.
“An ex?” Nick asked.
“You could say that,” Hayley said. Nick hugged her close. She smiled.
“You are happy with me, right?” Nick asked.
“Of course,” Hayley said. She kissed him softly. His cell phone rang. Nick groaned and got it out of his
pocket.
“Hello, hey Frick, what, you saw your sister, where, oh, that bites, yeah, talk to you later, bye,” Nick
said. He turned and saw Hayley gone. He looked for her and found her in the bedroom.
“Baby, what’s wrong,” Nick asked.
“Who is Frick?” Hayley asked.
“My best friend, I’m Frack, he’s Frick,” Nick said.
“What is his real name?” Hayley asked.
“Brian Littrell, why?”
Nick asked.
“You know Brian, oh god,” Hayley said.
“Hayley, what is it,” Nick said. She looked at him.
“Do I look familiar to you?” Hayley asked.
“Not really, you look the same as you have before,” Nick said.
“Do I look like someone you know?” Hayley said. He looked at her and his eyes widened.
“Oh my god, you are Hayley, as in Brian’s sister, Hayley,” Nick said.
“Yeah,” Hayley said. She sat on the bed.
“I can’t believe you didn’t tell me,” Nick said.
“I didn’t know you knew him,” Hayley said.
“I have known him ever since he joined the group,” Nick said.
“You are in the Backstreet Boys with him,” Hayley said.
“I can’t believe you didn’t know that,” Nick said.
“I didn’t pay any attention because after he left to join the group, I left home and never went back,”
Hayley said.
“I’m calling Brian,” Nick said.
“I don’t want anything to do with him!” Hayley said.
“What, why,” Nick said.
“Because I don’t, okay, he left home when I needed him the most and I hate him for it,” Hayley said.
“You know why he left,” Nick said.
“I didn’t care, he was my brother and I needed him, I was in a bad place, he left like he didn’t
care,” Hayley said.
“A bad place?” Nick asked.
“I was seeing this guy and I got pregnant, I told him and he said he wouldn’t tell our parents, but he
went and told them anyways, he swore he wouldn’t tell them but he did, he betrayed my trust, my parents disowned me,
I had nothing, I had a miscarriage and I was allowed to stay but they wanted nothing to do with me so I left, I went off to
start a new life,” Hayley said. Nick sat down and hugged her close as she cried.
“I won’t tell him a thing,” Nick said.
“I don’t want you to lie for me,” Hayley said.
“I don’t want you hurt, I don’t want to hurt you or betray you, I love you, baby, I will protect
you,” Nick said.
“But I lied to you, Nick, I didn’t tell you who I really was,” Hayley said.
“Shh, you had good reason, I love you, you are important to me,” Nick said. He reached into the nightstand
and pulled out a small box. He handed it to her and she opened it and saw the most beautiful ring and she looked at him. He
looked at her.
“Will you marry me?” Nick asked.
“Yes!” Hayley said. He slid the ring on her hand and kissed it and kissed her deeply.
“Let’s get married tonight,” Nick said.
“Nick, are you sure?” Hayley asked.
“Yes,” Nick said. They headed for the airport and got on the next flight to Las Vegas.
Two weeks later, they returned
to Miami as husband and wife. They went home and laid in bed and slept in each other’s
arms. Nick’s cell phone rang. Nick groaned and picked it up.
“What,” Nick said.
“Where have you been!” AJ said.
“Vegas,” Nick said.
“What were you doing there,” AJ said.
“Stuff,” Nick said.
“You aren’t gambling now, are you,” AJ said.
“No, I got married, Bone,” Nick said.
“What,” AJ said.
“I got hitched!” Nick said.
“You got married, without all of us and your family,” AJ said.
“It was a spur of the moment kind of thing,” Nick said.
“The guys and I are coming over, bye,” AJ said. Nick hung up and looked at Hayley.
“What is it,” Hayley said.
“The guys are coming over,” Nick said.
An hour later, Nick sat in
the living room with Brian, Kevin, AJ, and Howie. Leighanne and Kristin were there as well. They looked at Nick.
“Nick, how could you get married without us there,” AJ said.
“I wanted to get married, okay,” Nick said.
“Who is this girl you married?” Brian asked. Nick looked at the stairs. They looked
and saw Hayley.
“Hayley,” Brian said.
“I am married to Nick and I’m staying married to
him,” Hayley said.
“So he knows you’re my sister?” Brian asked.
“Yes, he does, we just found out who each other was today
before we got married, so don’t get mad at him for not saying anything, I asked him not to,” Hayley said.
“Hayley, I’m so sorry for what I did, I just want
my sister back, I want us to be family again and I will not betray you again,” Brian said.
“Well, on one condition, you accept my marriage to Nick,”
Hayley said.
“I do, Hayley, I’m glad you two are together, my
best friend and my sister,” Brian said.
Two days later, it was Christmas Day
and Hayley and Nick went over to Brian’s. Hayley walked in and saw her parents, Kevin, Ann, Jerald JR, and Tim. Jackie
came over and hugged Hayley.
“My baby girl, I have missed you so much, Christmas is
about forgiving, you are my daughter no matter what,” Jackie said.
“I just want things to be normal again,” Hayley
said.
“And they will, plus we have a new member to the family,
there is my son-in-law,” Jackie said hugging Nick. Hayley looked at Brian.
“Sorry, sis, you didn’t make me promise this time,”
Brian said.
“I know,” Hayley said. They all sat down and enjoyed
the holiday. Hayley looked at her family and she knew things were as they should be.
