Kevin stood there watching his wife, Hayley, whom he has been married to for two years, cook dinner. He was so lucky to be married to her. Nick came in.

     “Hey guys,” Nick said.

     “Hi Nicky,” Hayley said. Nick has said that no one but Hayley can call him Nicky.

     “Hey Nick, thanks for coming over,” Kevin said.

     “So what’s up,” Nick said. Hayley turned off the stove and burners and put the food on the table. She looked at Kevin. He sat her down and he sat down. Nick sat down in the other chair.

     “Kev,” Hayley said.

     “I asked Nick to come over because there was something I needed to tell you and I thought Nick should be here for you,” Kevin said.

     “Kevin, what is going on,” Nick said.

     “I’ve been having an affair for the past year, with Kristin,” Kevin said.

     “What!” Hayley yelled.

     “What,” Nick said.

     “How could you do this to me!” Hayley yelled.

     “I’m sorry, I just can’t get over her,” Kevin said.

     “Then go be with her, get out!” Hayley yelled. Kevin got up and went out the door. Hayley sat there crying. Nick knelt beside her and pulled her in his arms as she cried. She buried her face in his shoulder and cried. He carried her up to her room and laid her on the bed and laid beside her and hugged her as she cried.

     “How could he do this to me, after only being married for two years, he has being having an affair for a year, why would he do this, I thought he loved me,” Hayley said.

     “I can’t believe he did this, he told us over and over again that he was over her and so in love with you,” Nick said.

     “Yeah, well, he lied,” Hayley said.

     “Well, I’m here for you,” Nick said. Hayley looked up at him.

     “I know you are,” Hayley said. He looked at her. She was looking at him.

Chapter 2

Hayley and Nick laid there looking at each other. She rested her head on his shoulder.

     “So what are you going to do now?” Nick asked.

     “First thing in the morning, I’m filing for a divorce,” Hayley said.

     “He deserves what he gets for doing this to you,” Nick said.

     “Yes, he does,” Hayley said. She looked up at him and he looked at her. They stared into each other’s eyes as they moved closer. Their lips met in a tender kiss. The kiss deepened and he got on top of her. He cupped her face in his hands and kissed her passionately. She began removing his shirt. He pulled back.

     “Hayley,” Nick said.

     “Nick, make love to me, please,” Hayley said. He gazed at her.

     “Are you sure, Hayley, I don’t want you to do something you’ll regret later,” Nick said.

     “I won’t regret it, I have always wanted you, I was just too blind to see it, I could never lie to you, Nick, I have had feelings for you for a long time, even before I started dating Kevin, I was scared that you didn’t feel the same way, so I went to Kevin,” Hayley said.

     “I did feel the same way, I still do,” Nick said. Hayley stroked his face.

     “Make me yours, Nicky,” Hayley said. He kissed her deeply as they removed each other’s clothes and he gently made love to her. Afterwards, he laid beside her and pulled her close to him.

     “Oh god, Hayley,” Nick said.

     “I’m yours now, Nick, I never want to let you go,” Hayley said holding onto him.

     “I’m not letting you go either, but we can’t let anyone know we are together until after your divorce from Kevin is final, that way no one will know you left him for me,” Nick said. He got up and got dressed. Hayley got dressed.

     “I think you are right, we have to remain friends until after the divorce,” Hayley said. Nick hugged her and left. Hayley laid on the bed and looked out the window.

The next morning, Hayley called a lawyer about divorce papers and hung up after smiling. In two hours, Kevin would be served with divorce papers and her road to ending her marriage to him would begin. She went downstairs. Kevin came in with Howie and AJ.

     “I’m here to get my stuff,” Kevin said.

     “Good,” Hayley said.

     “Hayley,” Kevin said.

     “Just get your stuff and get out,” Hayley said.

     “I wish it could be different,” Kevin said.

     “You had the affair!” Hayley said.

     “I know,” Kevin said.

     “Do you honestly think I could forgive you for having an affair, huh, do you!” Hayley yelled.

     “I wish you would,” Kevin said.

     “Forget it!” Hayley said. Kevin pulled her close and kissed her hard. She pushed him away and slapped him.

     “Get your stuff and get out, asshole!” Hayley yelled. She locked herself in the den.

Epilogue

Six months later, Kevin and Hayley’s divorce was final and she and Nick officially got together and went public. Three months after that, they were engaged to be married and got married two weeks later. Kevin and Kristin got back together and got married. Kevin and Hayley agreed to be friends as their feelings for each other slowly went away.
