Hayley sat there in her living room,
looking at the papers in her hands. She couldn’t believe that she won a contest to meet Brian, Howie, AJ, and Nick of
the Backstreet Boys. What she didn’t know was that she was the long lost sister of Brian. When she was four years old,
she was kidnapped from Lexington, Kentucky and dumped in an alley in Orlando, Florida with no memory of who she was or where
she was from. Steve and Laura Hardin adopted her. She decided to live on her own so she got a job at the mall, working at
the sports store called Sports Authority. She got a condo and has been living there for a year. She grabbed her purse and
keys and went out the door. She went to work. She saw her co-worker, Matt, behind the counter.
“Hey Matt,” Hayley said.
“Hey Hayley, how’s it going?” Matt asked.
“Great, you know that contest I entered, to meet the Backstreet Boys,” Hayley said.
“Yeah,” Matt said.
“I won, I get to meet them tomorrow at the Orlando Arena, it’s the last tour stop of their US tour,” Hayley
said.
“Or you could meet them now,” Matt said. Hayley turned and saw Brian, Nick, and AJ come into the store. She put
her stuff behind the counter and clocked in.
Nick stood there looking
at the girl behind the counter. He tapped Brian.
“Frick, does that girl look familiar to you?” Nick asked. Brian looked at the girl.
“That is the girl who won the contest, Frack, remember, the fans were suppose to sent pictures of themselves for the
contest so we know what they look like in case they win,” Brian said.
“Brian, she looks like your mom,” AJ said.
“What,” Brian said looking at AJ.
“She looks like your mom, she looks like she could be your sister,” Nick said. Brian went up to the counter.
“Hayley?” Brian asked.
“Yes,” Hayley said looking at him. Brian came around and hugged her. Hayley stood there in shock. She couldn’t
believe that a Backstreet Boy was hugging her.
Chapter 2
Hayley pulled back and looked at Brian. She stepped away from him. He looked at her.
“Can I help you?” Hayley asked.
“Hayley, it’s me, Brian,” Brian
said.
“I know that, I won that contest to meet you
guys, you guys are my favorite music group,” Hayley said.
“Hayley, no, it’s me, your brother,”
Brian said.
“You can’t be my brother because I was
an only child,” Hayley said.
“Hayley, you look like a Littrell,” Brian
said.
“That is impossible, my parents are Steve and
Laura Hardin,” Hayley said.
“You have the same name as my sister, she was
four years old and was kidnapped from in front of my house in Lexington, Kentucky, you look like her,” Brian said.
“I’m sorry, Brian, but it’s not
possible that I’m your sister, I was born and raised here in Orlando by my parents, Steve and Laura,” Hayley said.
“Can you take a blood test, just to prove me
wrong?” Brian asked. Hayley looked at Matt. He nodded.
“Fine, I’ll be back, Matt,” Hayley
said. They went to the hospital and Hayley took a blood test. Brian supplied his blood. They sat and waited for the results.
The doctor came out and looked at them and smiled.
“100% match, she’s your sister,”
the doctor said. Hayley sat there. Brian looked at her. She got up and ran out the door and ran to her parents. Laura opened
the door and Hayley hugged her.
“Mom, please tell me I’m your daughter,”
Hayley said.
“Honey, you are,” Laura said.
“Not according to the blood test I took, I’m
the daughter of Harold and Jackie Littrell, Brian Littrell of the Backstreet Boys is my brother, Mom, tell me that ain’t
true!” Hayley cried.
“Honey, we adopted you when you were four years
old, you were found in an alley here in Orlando with no memory, we didn’t know who your real parents were, now you do,”
Laura said. Hayley cried as Laura hugged her.
“I’m sorry, sweetie, we didn’t see a point of telling
you that you were adopted,” Laura said. Hayley hugged her and left and went home and sat down.
Chapter 3
Hayley laid down on her
couch and thought about everything. She couldn’t believe she was Brian’s sister and she couldn’t believe
that the parents she grew up thinking was her real parents were only her adopted parents. She closed her eyes and began dreaming.
*Hayley sat in the front yard of a
house, playing with her dolls when someone grabbed her from behind and covered her mouth with their hands. She screamed and
kicked as the guy took her and threw her in the trunk of a car and everything went black. She woke up and looked around and
saw people standing around her. A woman in a white coat stood over her.
“Hey sweetheart, I’m Dr. Gibson, you are safe now,” she said. She saw a man and a woman standing beside
the doctor.
“This is Steve and Laura Hardin, they are going to take care of you, they have been looking to adopt a child for a long
time now, with everything you have been through, they are going to take extra special care of you, you will be safe with them,
I’ve known them for a long time,” Dr. Gibson said. Hayley closed her eyes.*
Hayley woke up and sat
up. She got her purse and went out the door and went to work and went in and saw Nick there with Matt.
“Nick, where’s Brian?” Hayley asked.
“He’s at his house,” Nick said.
“Can you take me there, please?” Hayley asked.
“Sure, you want to follow me in your car,” Nick said.
“I’ll ride in your car, we can come back for mine later, just take me to Brian, please!” Hayley said. They
went out to Nick’s car and he took her to Brian’s. They went up and Nick went in with Hayley behind him.
“Frick!” Nick called. Brian came in to the front hall from the living room.
“Hey Frack, Hi Hayley,” Brian said. Hayley ran to him and hugged him.
“I think I remember, I had this dream, when I was taken, was I in the front yard playing with dolls?” Hayley asked.
“Yeah, and some guy grabbed you and threw you in the trunk of his car and took off,” Brian said.
“That was my dream!” Hayley said. Brian hugged her.
“Harold, Kevin, and I ran to the front yard, but we were too late, the guy had you in the trunk and took off, we got
the license plate and they caught the guy, he told the cops that he had dumped you in an alley here in Orlando,” Brian
said.
“Brian, I didn’t want to believe you but now I do, I had that dream once before I met you, I didn’t know
what it was about, but now I do, you are my brother,” Hayley said. Brian smiled and hugged her close. Nick smiled as
he watched them.
Chapter 4
Three days later, Brian
invited his parents and brother down along with Ann, Jerald JR, and Tim. They met Hayley and they all sat down to talk.
Nick pulled Brian into the kitchen.
“How does it feel to have your sister back?” Nick asked.
“Feels great, everything is right again, my mom never got over losing her, everything is the way it should be, and Frack,
I think Hayley is the girl for you,” Brian said.
“What,” Nick said.
“Spending time with her has gotten me to know what kind of person she is, her sense of humor, personality, she is the
female version of you, plus she likes you, she asked me if you were dating anyone,” Brian said. Nick looked at
him and sat down.
“Brian, you know the type of guy I am, I can’t be happy with one person, I’m afraid if I’m with Hayley,
I’d hurt her and that is the last thing I want to do, I don’t want to hurt your sister or you,” Nick said
looking at the table.
“Things may change, Frack,” Brian said. Nick looked at him and saw him looking at the doorway and Nick turned
and saw Hayley standing there crying. Nick stood up and looked at her. Hayley ran upstairs.
“See, I just hurt her,” Nick said. He went upstairs after her and found her in Brian’s room, sitting on
his bed. Nick sat down.
“Hayley, I’m sorry, Brian told me you like me, but I’m not the right guy for you, I do care about you, but
I can’t be with you, I don’t want to take the chance of hurting you, because hurting you will hurt Brian and that
is the last thing I want, he’s my best friend, I don’t want to ruin anything with you or Brian, it is safer if
we are friends,” Nick said. Hayley looked at him with tears rolling down her cheeks.
“I wish it could be different, I thought we could be happy together, I can’t help how I feel, Nick,” Hayley
said.
“Hayley, I don’t want to hurt you,” Nick said.
“You are hurting me, Nick,” Hayley said.
“Hayley, I can’t do this, okay, I like you, too, but I don’t want to hurt you if we get into a relationship,
I’m not the kind of guy who can be with one girl, I’m scared that if we were together, I would cheat on you, and
I don’t want to hurt you like that, you don’t deserve me, you deserve better than me,” Nick said. He got
up and went out the door. Hayley laid down on the bed and cried softly.
Chapter 5
Three months later, Brian was getting
married to Leighanne. Hayley met her and they became best friends as did Hayley and Kristin. Hayley walked down the hall and
saw Nick standing there talking with AJ. Nick looked and saw her and smiled at her. Hayley came to understand that Nick was
just looking out for her and protecting her from him. He was proving himself to her that he really cared about her.
They became the best of friends.
“Hayley, you look gorgeous,” Nick said hugging her.
“Thanks, I can’t believe Brian and Leighanne are getting married,” Hayley said.
“Yeah,” Nick said. They all sat down in the hallway and talked. Three hours later, they were at the reception.
Nick and Hayley stuck together among all the guests. Brian and Leighanne came over to them.
“Hey you two,” Brian said hugging them.
“Congratulations, you guys, the ceremony was amazing,” Hayley said.
“It was my fairy-tale wedding,” Leighanne said hugging Brian.
“Are you going to be okay in the house alone, sis?” Brian asked.
“I’ll be fine, I’m a big girl,” Hayley said.
“Hey Frick, I’ll hang out at the house with her so she won’t be alone,” Nick said. Brian smiled.
“Thanks, Frack, I’d appreciate that,” Brian said.
That night after the
reception was over, Hayley and Nick went to Brian’s house.
“Brian told me that Leighanne wants to live up in Atlanta to be close to her family, but he wants to live down here
to be close to you guys,” Hayley said.
“Home is where the heart is,” Nick said.
“I think they should settle at a neutral place,” Hayley said. Nick smiled.
“I think you are right,” Nick said. Hayley smiled and went upstairs and made up a guest room for Nick.
“Well, I think you are an amazing sister to Brian,” Nick said coming into the room.
“Thanks, I try to be,” Hayley said.
“You don’t have to, you are, I have watched you two together, it doesn’t seem like you two hadn’t
missed any time together, you guys act like Aaron and Angel,” Nick said. Hayley smiled.
“Your siblings are amazing,” Hayley said.
“I know they are,” Nick said. He hugged her. He pulled back and smiled at her.
“Well, goodnight, Nick,” Hayley said.
“Goodnight,” Nick said. She kissed his cheek and went to her room
Chapter 6
During the night, Hayley laid there
in her bed, staring at the ceiling. She couldn’t sleep. She turned over and faced away from the door and looked out
the window. She heard a noise and looked and saw Nick standing beside her bed.
“Nick,” Hayley said.
“I can’t sleep,” Nick said.
“I can’t, either,” Hayley said. He got into the bed with her and laid there. He laid on his side and propped
himself on his elbow and looked at her.
“Do you still like me?” Nick asked.
“Yup,” Hayley said.
“I still like you, too,” Nick said. She turned over and faced him. She leaned up and kissed his lips softly. She
pulled back. They looked at each other and he kissed her softly and the kiss deepened. They laid on the bed, kissing. They
began removing each other’s clothes and he gently and slowly made love to her. Afterwards they laid there holding each
other.
“Wow,” Nick said.
“Yeah,” Hayley said.
“What do you think about a relationship, can we make it work?” Nick asked.
“I think so, if you think it can work,” Hayley said.
“I think so,” Nick said. They kissed and made love again before falling asleep holding each other.
Chapter 7
Two weeks later, it was the day that
Brian and Leighanne were coming home from their honeymoon. Nick and Hayley were lying in Hayley’s bed, kissing after
making love. They heard the front door open and close.
“Hayley, Nick, we’re home!” Brian called. Nick grabbed his clothes and quickly got dressed. He brushed his
hair and went downstairs. Hayley got dressed and laid in bed. She turned and faced the window.
“Hayley,” Brian said. She turned and looked at him.
“Hey bro,” Hayley said.
“You okay, Nick said you had a headache,” Brian said. Hayley turned and faced him.
“Yeah, it’s a little better,” Hayley said.
“Nick told me and Leighanne that you two are a couple now, I’m glad, you two are made for each other,” Brian
said.
“I know, did you and Leighanne decide where you are going to live?” Hayley asked.
“Here, Leighanne admitted that she loves Florida and she said she can visit her family anytime she wants,” Brian
said. Hayley smiled.
“Good, I want you down here, I wouldn’t have a place to go if you moved up there,” Hayley said.
“Yes, you would, you would have this house, if we moved up there, I wouldn’t sell this house,” Brian said.
“I’m just glad you aren’t, we’ve been apart for too long to be separated,” Hayley said. Brian
hugged her.
“I know, sis, that was another reason for Leighanne to stay here, she knew I didn’t want to be apart from you,”
Brian said.
“But since you two are married, I should let you two have the house to yourselves,” Hayley said.
“No way, sis, you are not going anywhere,” Brian said. Hayley looked at him.
“Brian, it would be best, you two are married, no sense of having your sister around,” Hayley said.
“Leighanne wants you here, too,” Brian said.
“He’s right,” Leighanne said. They saw Nick and Leighanne standing at the doorway.
“I don’t want to be the third wheel in this house,” Leighanne said.
“If you moved out, where would you go?” Brian asked. Hayley looked at Nick, who smiled.
“My house,” Nick said.
“Well, okay, if you want to move out, fine,” Brian said. Hayley smiled.
“It’s time I did,” Hayley said. She got up and got her stuff together and packed it in her car. She hugged
Brian and Leighanne and followed Nick down to his house. They pulled into the driveway and got out. Hayley looked at the house
and Nick picked her up and carried her inside and up to his bedroom and closed the door and laid her on the bed and got on
top of her and they removed their clothes and made love. They laid there holding each other and fell asleep. Nick woke up
and saw Hayley gone. He heard the shower and got up and went into the bathroom and got into the shower with her.
“Hey beautiful,” Nick said hugging her from behind.
“Hey yourself,” Hayley said turning in his arms and kissing him hungrily. He lifted her up and pressed her against
the wall of the shower and made love to her. They showered and got out and collapsed on the bed and made love again. They
laid there holding each other.
“I can’t stop making love to you,” Nick said.
“Nick, we never had any protection,” Hayley said.
“I thought you were on birth control?” Nick asked.
“No, I didn’t need to be because I hadn’t been with anyone before you and I never figured on being with
anyone, I wasn’t expecting us to make love all the time, it’s too late now, if I started birth control now, it
would take a month for it to work, according to a pamplet from health class in high school,” Hayley said sitting up.
Nick sat up.
“I can’t believe this,” Nick said.
“I’m sorry, Nick, I’m not trying to trap you, I never expected us to get together and make love right away,”
Hayley said. Nick hugged her.
“I should have worn condoms,” Nick said.
Three weeks later, they
went to the doctor and the doctor examined her and left the room. Nick sat beside her and held her hand. The doctor
came in with the results.
“I did the test three times and got the same result, you are three weeks pregnant, Hayley,” the doctor said. Hayley
and Nick went home and sat down. Nick held her hand as they sat there thinking of what to do next.
Chapter 8
Nick and Hayley sat there
on the couch, both deep in thought of what to do.
“Hayley, I want you to know that I will not leave you, no matter what,” Nick said.
“I want this baby, I can’t give it up or kill it, I want this baby and I need you with me on this, Nick, this
baby needs us together,” Hayley said.
“And the baby will have that, do you want to get married?” Nick asked.
“I think it would be best, that way we can be married when the baby is born,” Hayley said.
“Let’s go,” Nick said.
“Now?” Hayley asked.
“Yeah, we can get married at the courthouse and then have a big family wedding later,” Nick said. Hayley nodded
and they went to the courthouse and got married. They went to Brian’s. Leighanne let them in.
“What did the doctor say?” Leighanne asked sitting down. Hayley sat down.
“Where’s Brian?” Hayley asked.
“He’s at the golf course with AJ,” Leighanne said.
“I’m three weeks pregnant, and we got married,” Hayley said.
“We are planning a family wedding later on,” Nick said. Leighanne looked at him.
“Don’t you dare leave her, Nick,” Leighanne said.
“Don’t plan on it, ever,” Nick said.
“Can you handle being tied down to one woman?” Leighanne asked. Nick took Hayley’s hand.
“Yes, I can, she is my wife, and I love her, and we are going to be a family, that part of my life is over, Hayley and
our baby is my present and future,” Nick said kissing Hayley’s hand. Hayley smiled. The front door opened and
closed and Brian and AJ came in.
“Hey guys, have fun?” Leighanne said.
“Yup, hey Frack, hey sis,” Brian said. He sat down.
“Brian, they have some news,” Leighanne said.
“What’s up,” Brian said as he sat down. AJ sat down.
“Hayley and I are having a baby, she’s three weeks along,” Nick said.
“Was there protection?” Brian asked.
“I thought she was on birth control,” Nick said.
“I wasn’t expecting us to sleep together and after we started, it was too late for birth control, Nick and I have
thought this out, we got married today at the courthouse,” Hayley said.
“Married, without the family there?” Brian asked.
“We are planning a family wedding, we just wanted to get married now, Brian, please understand this, we are going to
be a family, and I would like your support in this,” Hayley said. Brian sat beside her and hugged her.
“You will always have my support, sis, I spent a long time without you around, I’m not going to push you out of
my life ever, if anything, I’m glad you are with Nick, he is officially my brother,” Brian said hugging Nick.
“Thanks, Frick,” Nick said. They sat down and talked.
Chapter
9
Three months later, Hayley was four
months along and enjoying it. She and Nick had a big family wedding two months ago. Her parents were happy that she married
the father of her baby. They had already considered Nick a part of the family and now that he was married to Hayley, it was
official. Hayley laid on the couch, watching a movie when the front door opened and closed and Nick and Brian came in and
Nick kissed Hayley on the forehead.
“Hey baby,” Nick said sitting beside her. Brian sat down in the chair.
“How was rehearsal?” Hayley asked.
“It was exhausting,” Nick said.
“Yeah, we had to do everything about fifteen times, the dance moves, the singing, everything,” Brian said.
“And what’s worse, the same thing goes for tomorrow,” Nick said.
“I better get home so I can get some sleep,” Brian said getting up. He hugged Hayley and left.
“Let’s get you to bed so you can be ready for tomorrow,” Hayley said getting up. She turned everything off
and grabbed Nick and pulled him upstairs and they got into bed and went to sleep. Nick woke up the next morning and saw Hayley
gone. He sat up and listened. He got up and got dressed and went downstairs. He saw the front door opened and saw the living
room trashed.
“Hayley!?” Nick called. He searched the house and looked out the front door and didn’t see anything. He
went out back and didn’t see her.
“Nick?” Brian called. Nick came in from the back.
“What happened?” Brian asked.
“I don’t know, Hayley and I went to sleep last night after she dragged me to bed, she’s strong when she’s
pregnant, I woke up and she was gone, I got up and got dressed and came downstairs and the living room was trashed and the
front door was standing wide open, I searched the house and out back, I can’t find her,” Nick said sitting against
the wall.
“Maybe she went to the store,” Brian said.
“And left her cell, purse, and keys?” Nick asked.
“Maybe she went out for a walk?” Brian asked.
“She would tell me, and she would take her phone in case something happened, she never goes anywhere without telling
me,” Nick said. He held his head in his hands.
“Nick, we better get to rehearsal, maybe she’ll be here when you come home,” Brian said. They went to rehearsal.
After it was over, all four guys went to Nick’s house and went in and looked around and nothing was different and Hayley
was not there. Nick looked at Brian. He nodded and called the police. Ten minutes later, two cops showed up.
“I’m Officer Grant and this is Officer Harris,” one of them said.
“I’m Brian Littrell, this is my brother-in-law, Nick Carter, and our friends, AJ McLean and Howie Dorough, we are the Backstreet Boys,” Brian said.
“My wife is missing, Hayley Littrell-Carter, she is Brian’s sister, she’s been missing since this morning,
I woke up this morning and she was gone, I came downstairs and the living room was trashed and the front door wide open, I
know she wouldn’t leave without telling me, she’s four months pregnant, here’s a picture of her, you guys
have to find her, please,” Nick said handing them a picture of Hayley.
“So, she was gone when you got up this morning,” Officer Grant said.
“Yes,” Nick said.
“And she didn’t tell you anything?” Officer Harris said. Nick shook his head.
“Guys, my sister was kidnapped before, when she was four-years-old, from the front yard of my parents’ house in
Kentucky,” Brian said.
“We know about that case, the guy we caught 20 years ago is out on parole,” Officer Grant said.
“He’s out,” Brian said.
“Brian, you don’t think he found her and grabbed her again,” Nick said.
“I’m on it,” Officer Grant said. He went to call it in. Nick sat down and ran his hands through his hair.
Brian sat down beside him. They prayed that Hayley was okay.
Chapter 10
Nick sat there in the living room
staring at the TV. Brian sat beside him. AJ and Howie went out and joined the search.
"Brian, I'm sorry, I couldn't keep
your sister safe," Nick said.
"Nick, it was not your fault, they
got the guy back in jail but he's not talking, he admitted he took her from here, but he won't talk," Brian said. Nick broke
down crying.
"I will kill him if he has done anything
to her," Nick said.
"Wait in line," Brian said. The door
opened and closed and Kevin came in with Kristin, Ann, Jackie, Harold, and Harold JR.
"Mom, Dad," Brian said hugging them.
"Why did this guy do this again, why
is he obsessed with Hayley?" Jackie said sitting down.
"I'm sorry, Jackie, I couldn't keep
her safe," Nick said. Jackie sat down and hugged Nick.
"Nick, this is not your fault, you
didn't know this would happen," Jackie said.
"He's been blaming himself," Brian
said.
"Nick, stop, okay, we love you like
a son, we know it's not your fault, you did the best you could," Jackie said. AJ and Howie came in with Officer Grant. They
all looked at them.
"Mr. and Mrs. Littrell, Mr. Carter,
we have found Hayley," Officer Grant said. They looked at each other.
"Where is she?" Jackie said.
"I'm sorry, Mrs. Littrell, we found
her body down on the beach, in a secluded area," Officer Grant said.
"No!" Jackie cried as her husband
took her in his arms. Nick sat there. He leaned forward and held his head in his hands. He didn't want to believe that his
wife was never coming back. He didn't want to believe that he would never see his baby. Brian hugged him. They knew that life
would never be the same.
The next day, Nick and Brian went
to the police station to confront the guy who killed Hayley. They sat there waiting. They brought the guy in and sat him down.
"Why did you kill my wife?" Nick asked.
"Why did you kill my sister?" Brian
said.
"I should have killed her the first
time," the guy said.
"Why, what did she do to you, huh,
she was just four years old, and now you find her and grab her and you kill her this time, not only that, you killed her unborn
baby along with it, you killed two people, you knew she was pregnant, didn't you, you killed an innocent woman and you killed
an innocent life, you killed two people who did nothing to you, you know she didn't turn you in, I did, with my cousin and
brother, my sister didn't know who she really was after you dumped her in that alley, she had no memory of her life in Kentucky, you are a monster who doesn't deserve to live, I hope you get the
death sentence so you can rot in hell," Brian said glaring at the guy.
"So what," the guy said.
"Let's go, B, let him get what he
deserves, nothing will bring her back," Nick said getting up. They went out the door as the cops took the guy back to his
cell. Nick and Brian went to Brian's house. Leighanne hugged Nick. He went to the guest room and laid down on the bed and
went to sleep.
Epilogue
Nick stood in front of Hayley's casket
at the cemetary as the reverend finished his speech. Brian, Jackie, Harold Jr and Harold stood beside him. Jackie was crying
and was comforted by her husband. Brian was holding Leighanne. Kevin was holding Kristin. They all stood there while everyone
started to leave. Everyone else started to leave. Nick didn't move. He stood there staring at the casket. He went home
and sat down and stared at a picture of him and Hayley. Brian came in.
"How can I go on?" Nick asked.
"One day at a time, Nick, don't try
to end your life, that is not what Hayley would want, you have plenty to live for, me and the guys, your sisters, Aaron, your
dad, all the fans, it wouldn't be the same without you, you are my best friend, Frack, I just lost my sister, I can't lose
my brother, too," Brian said. Nick looked at him and they hugged. Nick knew Hayley was watching over him. He knew he had to
keep going for everyone.
THE END!
